Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Deep learning and applied mathematics are increasingly transforming biological, biomedical, and medical research by enabling accurate modeling, prediction, optimization, and interpretation of complex data. Recent advances in neural networks, explainable artificial intelligence, mathematical modeling, uncertainty-aware learning, and computational intelligence provide new opportunities for improving clinical decision support, disease prediction, biomedical signal analysis, medical imaging, drug response modeling, personalized healthcare, and biological system understanding.

This Special Issue aims to collect high-quality original research and review articles that develop or apply deep learning and mathematically grounded computational methods for biological and medical applications. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, deep neural networks for biomedical data analysis, explainable AI in healthcare, mathematical modeling of biological systems, optimization methods for medical decision-making, time-series and biosignal analysis, medical image analysis, risk prediction, uncertainty quantification, and interpretable machine learning for clinical applications.

We welcome interdisciplinary contributions that combine theoretical, computational, and application-oriented perspectives, particularly studies demonstrating methodological rigor, reproducibility, interpretability, and practical relevance for biology, medicine, and healthcare.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
