Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The rapid advancement of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics is fundamentally transforming how individuals manage their finances and how financial institutions deliver services. From AI-driven credit scoring and robo-advisors to natural language processing applications in insurance underwriting and fraud detection, data-driven approaches are reshaping the entire landscape of personal finance and financial services. Despite growing interest, significant challenges remain in model interpretability, algorithmic fairness, data privacy, and the integration of behavioral insights into predictive frameworks.

This Special Issue aims to bring together high-quality research at the intersection of machine learning, data analysis, and financial decision-making. We welcome both methodological contributions and applied studies that advance our understanding of how computational and statistical tools can be harnessed to improve financial well-being, enhance service delivery, and promote equitable access to financial resources.

Suitable topics for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following: machine learning models for household financial decision-making; AI applications in credit risk assessment and loan default prediction; natural language processing for financial text analysis and sentiment modeling; deep learning and pattern recognition in investment and portfolio management; data-driven approaches to life insurance underwriting and claims analysis; algorithmic fairness and bias detection in financial services; explainable AI (XAI) for consumer finance applications; robo-advisory systems and automated financial planning; fraud detection using machine learning and anomaly detection; behavioral finance modeling with large-scale transaction data; and financial inclusion and access through data analytics.

You may choose our Joint Special Issue in Risks.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Mathematics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs).
