Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Healthcare law must continuously adapt to ensure that technological progress and demographic change are accompanied by robust legal frameworks and ethical safeguards. Nowadays, the healthcare sector is being reshaped by two major societal developments: the ageing of society and the digitalization of healthcare services. Longer life expectancy and the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases are fundamentally altering the nature and scope of healthcare services. Digital innovations such as artificial intelligence, telemedicine, electronic health records and cross-border health data sharing are redefining healthcare delivery. At the European level, the evolving regulatory framework such as the European Health Data Space (EHDS) is also playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare. Addressing these issues requires an interdisciplinary perspective that integrates legal scholarship with insights from medicine, bioethics, public health and health policy.
This Special Issue aims to present and disseminate the most recent advances related to the legal and ethical implications of healthcare transformation in an ageing society and the digital era. We welcome original research addressing topics as digital health, artificial intelligence in healthcare, health data governance, patient rights, long-term care, age discrimination, informed consent, bioethics, healthcare regulation and other emerging legal challenges arising from demographic and technological change.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-anonymized peer-review process. Laws is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
