Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Isotopes are naturally occurring elements, providing invaluable resources for various industries such as medicine, energy, environment, and extraction and mining. They are used every day in cancer diagnostics and therapy, and they generate clean energy for oil excavation and geological characterizations, agriculture and plant sciences, welding, and material analyses.

This Special Issue collects manuscripts that will be presented at the 11th International Conference on Isotopes (11ICI). The event will be held on 23-27 July 2023, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The theme of 11ICI, “Isotopes around us, their applications and beyond”, will provide participants with invaluable opportunities to explore and discuss state-of-the art isotope science and technology advancements and their application in medicine, the environment, industry, and agriculture.

The conference will highlight the latest advancements in the industry, along with scientific and technological developments in the following areas of interest:

  • Deployment of nuclear power and small modular reactors;
  • Emergency and safety;
  • Public perception of radiation;
  • Isotopes in the cosmos and astrophysics;
  • Production and applications isotopes;
  • Extraction of isotopes and uranium mining;
  • Management of radioisotopes production facilities.

The scientific committee welcomes you, and we are looking forward to your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Nuclear Engineering is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
