Marine Microplastics and Their Ecological Toxicity

Dear Colleagues,

The constantly growing plastic production and disposal are gradually changing our Blue Planet into a Plastic one. The Plastisphere, a new and expanding ecological niche, is already claimed to be the eighth continent. All these phenomena are not inert for biota. Within this Special Issue, all interdisciplinary papers addressing these problems are welcomed, including by not limited to:

• The analysis of microplastics’ surfaces;
• The physical and chemical characterization of microplastics;
• Emerging nanoplastics;
• The polymer-biota interactions;
• Ecotoxicity of micro- and nanoplastics;
• Theoretical modelling of plastics’ behavior at sea;
• Green polymers characterization and deep studies of their biological interactions.

Please do not hesitate to write a short abstract or an individual proposal on the topic of your interest.
