Functional Anatomy and Musculoskeletal System

Section Information

This Section of the Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology (JFMK) aims to advance the understanding of the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system in relation to human movement, posture, and performance. The Section welcomes contributions that examine the structural, physiological, and biomechanical properties of bones, muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues, as well as their integration in providing support, stability, and motion. Submissions addressing clinical, applied, or performance-related aspects of the musculoskeletal system are particularly encouraged. The scope of this Section includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:

  • Musculoskeletal structure and function;
  • Clinical Anatomy of Musculoskeletal structures;
  • Neuromuscular physiology, control, and adaptation;
  • Musculoskeletal biomechanics;
  • Movement disorders and rehabilitation;
  • Muscle activation and fatigue;
  • Muscle–tendon unit behavior;
  • Joint function and dysfunction;
  • Tissue adaptation and remodeling
  • Modeling, imaging, and visualization techniques for studying movement and anatomy;
  • Orthopedic and clinical applications, including prosthetics, implants, and regenerative solutions.
