Inflammatory cardiac diseases comprise a rapidly evolving spectrum of disorders, including myocarditis, pericarditis, inflammatory cardiomyopathies, cardiac sarcoidosis, autoimmune-mediated myocardial injury, and cardiovascular involvement in systemic inflammatory diseases. Despite major advances in cardiovascular medicine, early diagnosis, risk stratification, and individualized therapeutic approaches remain significant clinical challenges.
Recent developments in precision cardiovascular medicine have transformed the understanding and management of inflammatory heart diseases. Emerging biomarkers, immune profiling, multimodal cardiac imaging, and artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted diagnostic tools are increasingly improving disease detection, prognostic assessment, and therapeutic decision-making. In parallel, targeted immunomodulatory therapies and personalized treatment strategies are opening new perspectives for patients with inflammatory cardiac disorders.
This Special Issue aims to provide an interdisciplinary overview of current advances in inflammatory cardiac diseases, bridging translational research and clinical cardiology. We welcome original research articles, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, narrative reviews, and expert perspectives addressing mechanisms of cardiac inflammation, innovative diagnostic approaches, advanced imaging modalities, digital cardiology solutions, and emerging therapeutic strategies.
Particular attention will be given to AI-enhanced echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, molecular and inflammatory biomarkers, cardio-rheumatology, immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated cardiotoxicity, post-viral inflammatory syndromes, and precision medicine approaches in inflammatory cardiovascular disease.
By integrating insights from cardiology, immunology, rheumatology, radiology, and digital health, this Special Issue seeks to stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and advance research to improve outcomes for patients with inflammatory heart disease.
Aims and Scope: This Special Issue focuses on recent advances in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, imaging, and management of inflammatory cardiac diseases within the framework of precision cardiovascular medicine.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to myocarditis and inflammatory cardiomyopathies, acute and recurrent pericarditis, cardiac sarcoidosis, autoimmune and rheumatic cardiovascular diseases, cardiovascular involvement in systemic inflammatory disorders, immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated myocarditis, post-viral and post-COVID inflammatory cardiac syndromes, molecular and inflammatory biomarkers, precision medicine and personalized cardiovascular care, AI-enhanced echocardiography and cardiac imaging, cardiac magnetic resonance and multimodal imaging, nuclear and molecular imaging in inflammatory heart disease, digital cardiology and machine learning applications, fibrosis, remodeling, and inflammatory signaling pathways, novel immunomodulatory and targeted therapies and translational and experimental cardio-immunology
