2010 The inaugural issue was released. Insects was published as a quarterly journal.
2011 Insects was indexed in EBSCO.
2012 Insects was indexed in CAB Abstracts (CABI).
2013 Insects was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier), starting with Volume 1 (Issue 1).
2015 Insects was indexed in PubMed and PubMed Central (PMC) - National Library of Medicine.
2017 Insects was indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 6 (Issue 1).
Insects received its first CiteScore (2016) of 1.81, ranked 28/131 in the "Insect Science" category.
Insects announced the first edition of the Travel award.
Insects published its 500th paper.
2018 Insects became an affiliated journal of the American Association of Professional Apiculturists (AAPA). (2018–2020)
Insects received its first Impact Factor (1.848), ranked Q1 (21/96) in the "Entomology" category.
Insects announced the first edition of the Young Investigators award.
2019 Insects adopted a monthly publication schedule.
Insects published its 1,000th paper.
A new position was launched—Topical Advisory Panel.
2020 Insects announced the first edition of the Best Paper award.
Insects established the following sections:
  • Insect Pest and Vector Management;
  • Insect Behavior and Pathology;
  • Insect Ecology, Diversity and Conservation;
  • Insect Physiology, Reproduction and Development;
  • Insect Molecular Biology and Genomics;
  • Insect Systematics, Phylogeny and Evolution;
  • Insect and Human Societies;
  • Other Arthropods and General Topics.
2021 Insects held the 1st International Electronic Conference on Entomology (IECE).
Insects established the new section Medical and Livestock Entomology.
Insect and Human Societies was divided into two sections, Insect Societies and Sociality and Role of Insects in Human Society.
2024 Insect Societies and Sociality was renamed as Social Insects.
2025 Social Insects was renamed as Social insects and Apiculture.
