On 11 September, BBC News reported some findings published in the Insects journal. These findings belong to the Speical Issue “The Citizen Science Approach for Expanding the Research on Insects”. Citizen science projects are most effective when it comes to raising awareness of some of the threats the nation's trees are facing. However, these schemes are less productive for delivering meaningful data for scientific scrutiny. These findings come from a study that assessed the ability of the UK public to become involved in a tree health survey, co-ordinated by Opal.
