Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Rare diseases are more complex than other diseases, such as tuberous sclerosis complex, progressive myoclonic epilepsy, etc., and it is expected that it will be more difficult to receive medical services for them compared to other diseases. As some rare diseases have systemic disorders, patients need to see various specialists for each disorder. However, due to the rareness, finding a specialist might be difficult, and it will often be difficult to reach a facility where patients are able to have sufficient medical care. Therefore, satisfaction with medical care is expected to be low. In addition, there are many disorders that have been reported to be prone to depressive symptoms due to the mental and financial burdens of the disorder itself.

In this Special Issue, we considered a plan to identify problems, focusing on patient satisfaction in rare diseases.
