Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Dental care has evolved immensely in recent years, and it is essential to reflect on where we are and where we are heading regarding children's care. The current technological explosion has created new tools that pediatric dentists should know. For behavior control, we have virtual reality and explanatory smartphone apps, for example. Understanding which tools can help generalists and pediatric dentists is necessary. Pain control measures have improved as new sedation drugs have emerged and different anesthetic methods have been used. Intraoral scanners and intraoral photographs are more reliable nowadays and can more consistently produce a more significant amount of information for decision making on the therapy to be adopted. Several guidelines have been published worldwide, and it is essential to analyze them and critically comment on the necessary changes for implementation in our clinical practice. With so much news, we all need to update ourselves and look for evidence that indicates what tools are worthy and can improve our care. To adapt our methodology, we must investigate and create new evidence for these technological advances. We should only follow technology if we have a solid scientific basis to support it.

The papers in the Special Issue contribute to environmental ecology, environmental health, or public health.

We invite worldwide investigators and clinicians to submit research papers, reviews, and conference papers.

Some topics that seem interesting:

  • Teledentistry;
  • Promotion of maternal and child oral health;
  • Lasers on pediatric patients;
  • Dental pain management;
  • Monitoring and managing sedation;
  • Enhancement techniques in traumatology;
  • Technology and behavior control (VR and smartphone apps);
  • Intraoral scanner and digital workflow;
  • New treatments in pediatric dentistry.
