Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Increasing sedentary behavior among youth has become a critical public health concern globally. Schools and sports environments play a pivotal role in reversing this trend. This Special Issue, titled "From Classroom to Playground: Multilevel Interventions to Promote Youth Physical Activity," aims to gather evidence-based strategies that bridge the gap between structured physical education and voluntary physical activity in playgrounds and community settings.
We invite researchers to submit manuscripts that address interventions at multiple levels—curricular, extracurricular, and environmental. We are particularly interested in studies exploring innovative teaching models in physical education (PE) that enhance motor competence and motivation. Furthermore, we welcome research on "active playgrounds," active commuting to school, and youth sports programs (such as futsal and team sports) that foster lifelong adherence to exercise.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the validation of active warm-up protocols, the impact of recess interventions on daily physical activity levels, and physiological or educational analysis of youth sport participation. The goal is to provide educators, coaches, and policymakers with comprehensive tools to transform both the classroom and the playground into active, health-promoting environments.
