Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce a Special Issue of Healthcare on “Promoting Healthcare and Well-Being in Rural and Vulnerable Communities.” Rural populations worldwide face unique health disparities due to geographic isolation, limited access to healthcare services, shortages of trained providers, socioeconomic barriers, and cultural differences in health-seeking behaviors. This Special Issue seeks to bring together innovative research, community-based approaches, and policy discussions aimed at reducing health inequities and promoting well-being in rural contexts.
We invite original research articles, systematic reviews, case studies, policy analyses, and practice-based reports that advance knowledge, inform interventions, and highlight promising models of care for rural populations. Contributions from multidisciplinary teams, community-based participatory research, and global perspectives are especially encouraged.
Potential areas of research include (but are not limited to):
- Rural healthcare delivery models and workforce development
- Access to primary care, emergency care, and specialist services in rural settings
- Use of telehealth, digital health, and innovative technologies in rural healthcare
- Maternal and child health in rural communities
- Chronic disease prevention and management in underserved areas
- Mental health promotion and service delivery in rural contexts
- Social determinants of health and community well-being in rural populations
- Indigenous and minority health in rural areas
- Community-based participatory approaches to healthcare improvement
- Policy frameworks and health system innovations for rural equity
- Health promotion, education, and disease prevention strategies tailored to rural populations
- Environmental and occupational health challenges in rural settings
We look forward to receiving your contributions and advancing the global dialogue on improving healthcare access and well-being for rural communities.
