Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Interprofessional collaboration (IPC) and interprofessional education (IPE) are essential for improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of health, social care, and public health systems. Empirical research in this area provides critical evidence on how collaborative competences, communication, and shared decision-making strengthen patient outcomes, professional well-being, and team performance. As health systems face increasing complexity, IPC and IPE offer evidence-based strategies to enhance coordinated, person-centered care.

This Special Issue aims to present empirical studies that advance understanding of IPC and IPE across diverse care settings. It aligns with journals focused on health professions education, collaborative practice, and system-level improvement by emphasizing evidence-informed models that support high-quality, safe, and integrated care. The scope is intentionally focused—broad enough to include various research designs and settings, yet specific to the core themes of interprofessional learning, teamwork, and collaborative service delivery.

We welcome quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, and evaluation studies on interprofessional

  • Competencies and leadership;
  • Teamwork and collaboration;
  • Patient-centered care and outcomes;
  • Assessment, evaluation, and needs;
  • Best practices and well-being.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.
