Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

We are an ageing population, with falling birth rates and increased longevity. Indeed, adults over 60 now outnumber children in the UK. In many ways, this is good news, as advances in medicine, public health, and economic prosperity have contributed significantly to increased lifespan. However, the time that a person can expect to stay in good health (healthspan) has not kept pace with lifespan, and we are living longer but not in good health. Ageing is accompanied by remodeling of the immune system; resulting in an increased risk of infection and chronic diseases, reduced immune tolerance, increased risk of autoimmunity, and impaired vaccine responses, which significantly impact health in old age. Understanding immunosenescence and then focusing on lifestyle-based interventions and therapeutic strategies that can restore immune function in aged individuals is gaining speed and has promise to improve the health of older adults.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
