Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue focuses on the molecular genetic and genomic mechanisms of light signal transduction and regulation, a core environmental factor governing plant development. It covers key aspects including photoreceptor function, light signal transduction, and genomic/epigenetic regulation of light-responsive genes (e.g., HY5, PIFs, CO-FT modules). The issue also includes light-mediated control of plant growth, photoperiodic flowering, fruit ripening, and anthocyanin synthesis, as well as multi-omics analyses and applications in crop breeding. We invite original research, reviews, and short communications to compile cutting-edge findings, advance theoretical understanding of light–plant interactions, and provide practical insights for crop improvement. All submissions will undergo strict peer review to ensure scientific rigor and relevance, aiming to make this issue a valuable resource for researchers in plant molecular genetics and genomics.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Genes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
