10th Anniversary of Fibers
The year 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of Fibers, a peer-reviewed, open access journal that provides an advanced forum for studies pertaining to all aspects of fiber research. Fibers published over 600 papers by the end of 2022. We value the contributions from both authors and reviewers. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fibers, we are preparing dedicated content and a series of events. We hope that you will join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and enjoy the collection below.

The inaugural Issue was released, and Fibers was published as a quarterly journal.
Founding Editor-in-Chief: Prof. Dr. Stephen C. Bondy
Stephen Bondy has been the Professor of Neuroscience at the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health, University of California, Irvine, since 1985. The focus of his research concerns the mechanistic processes underlying the effect of environmental or nutritional agents in altering the rate of brain aging. He obtained an M.A. from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Birmingham, UK in 1962. He has held positions at Columbia University, UCLA, University of Colorado, and the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences where he was Head of the Neurochemistry Section. Dr. Bondy is the author of around 400 articles and reviews.
Fibers was indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics).
Fibers started the first Best Paper Awards.
Fibers was indexed in Scopus (Elsevier).
Prof. Dr. Martin J. D. Clift was appointed as Editor-in-Chief of Fibers.
Martin gained his PhD at Edinburgh Napier University in 2009, in Nanoparticle In Vitro Toxicology. Martin joined Swansea University Medical School in December 2015. Martin has a core competence in particle and fiber toxicology. Martin’s research is focused on the nanoparticle–(mammalian)cell interaction, with a view to determining the mechanistic toxicological, immunological, and genotoxic effects that nanoparticles, with varying physicochemical characteristics, may cause at the cellular level by using advanced, next-level vitro systems combined with state-of-the-art microscopy and bioanalytical approaches. Martin has published over 100 papers within the field of nanotoxicology related to nanoparticle–cell interactions in vitro.
Fibers received its first CiteScore (2017) of 2.5.
Fibers changed to a monthly publication schedule.
Fibers announced the first edition of the Outstanding Reviewer awards.
Fibers published its 500th paper.
Fibers received its new CiteScore (2021) of 6.5.
The journal ranked 50/326 (Q1) under the category "Civil and Structural Engineering".
Fibers will receive its first impact factor.
Recruiting Editors for Fibers
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fibers, we will expand our Editorial Board to include experts in all areas of fiber research. We also welcome you to join us as an Editorial Board member, Topical Advisory Panel member or Guest Editor. If you are interested in the above editorship, please send your full academic CV and a short cover letter that details your interest and enthusiasm for the position to [email protected].
Special Issue Mentor Program
This program will enable early career researchers (who must hold a Ph.D. in a related field) to experience editing a Special Issue in MDPI journals, under the mentorship of our experienced Editorial Board Members or other experienced scientists. The mentor program will provide an excellent opportunity for early career scientists to gain editorial experience, and to cultivate their ability to edit scientific research. If you are interested in this opportunity, please send your Special Issue proposal to the Fibers Editorial Office ([email protected]), and we will discuss the process in further detail.
Seeking Conferences Collaborations for Fibers
In order to support the scientific community and contribute to the timely distribution of important scientific research, Fibers has cooperated with various academic conferences and is now seeking cooperation with additional academic conferences. The journal is open to a diverse range of collaborations, such as media partnerships, awards, exhibitions, and publications. We welcome consultations with any conferences related to Fibers. If you are interested in collaborating with Fibers, please contact us at [email protected].
