Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The transition to sustainable energy systems is pivotal to addressing climate change, energy security, and resource scarcity. As renewable energy integration, digitalization, and decarbonization reshape the global energy landscape, innovative approaches to energy efficiency and management are essential. This Special Issue explores cutting-edge strategies to overcome emerging challenges in optimizing energy performance, reducing waste, and enabling a resilient, low-carbon future.

We invite contributions from researchers, engineers, and policymakers to share their insights on technological advancements, policy frameworks, and best practices for sustainable energy systems.

This Special Issue seeks high-quality original research and review articles that address key challenges and opportunities in energy efficiency and management for sustainable energy systems. The focus is on innovative methodologies, technologies, and strategies that enhance energy performance, reduce waste, and support the transition to a low-carbon future.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced energy efficiency technologies and innovative applications
  • Integration and management of renewable energy sources
  • Smart energy systems, digitalization, and intelligent energy management
  • Energy storage and demand-side management
  • Policy, economics, and behavioral aspects of energy efficiency
  • Sustainable energy solutions for transportation and industrial sectors

We encourage interdisciplinary research bridging technical innovation, policy analysis, and socio-economic considerations to foster sustainable energy transitions.

This Special Issue provides a platform for advancing knowledge and practical solutions toward a more sustainable and resilient energy future. We look forward to your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Energies is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
