Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
International trade and logistics are essential drivers of economic development, competitiveness, and integration into regional and global markets. In recent years, global value chains, transport networks, trade facilitation mechanisms, and logistics systems have been increasingly shaped by digital transformation, sustainability requirements, geopolitical tensions, and recurrent supply chain disruptions. These developments highlight the need for a deeper understanding of how trade and logistics contribute to resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth.
This Special Issue, titled “International Trade and Logistics for Economic Development”, invites researchers and scholars to explore the evolving relationship between international trade, logistics performance, supply chain resilience, transport connectivity, trade facilitation, and economic development. Particular attention is given to the role of logistics infrastructure, customs procedures, digital technologies, sustainable logistics practices, and regional connectivity in enhancing trade competitiveness, improving market access, strengthening participation in global value chains, and supporting long-term development outcomes.
We invite original research articles, review papers, and case studies addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
- international trade and economic development;
- logistics performance, infrastructure, and competitiveness;
- global value chains and supply chain resilience;
- trade facilitation, customs procedures, and border management;
- transport systems, multimodal logistics, and regional connectivity;
- digitalization in international trade, logistics, and supply chain management;
- urbanisation, industrial development, and circularity;
- sustainability, green logistics, and responsible trade practices;
- geopolitical risks, trade disruptions, and supply chain reconfiguration;
- trade competitiveness, logistics networks, and sectoral development;
- regional integration, cross-border connectivity, and economic resilience;
- comparative, regional, and country-level studies on trade and logistics development.
This Special Issue welcomes the submission of both theoretical and empirical studies, as well as policy-oriented analyses and comparative case studies that provide original insights into the contribution of international trade and logistics to economic development. It seeks to encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and contribute to ongoing debates on how trade and logistics systems can support competitiveness, resilience, sustainability, and inclusive growth in a rapidly changing global economy.
