Biomaterials Special Coatings and Host Responce

Dear Colleagues,

Biomaterials, including orthopedic prostheses, are dental implants intensively investigated to increase biocompatibility and provide sufficient host tissue response. Bioactive coating has been used successfully to improve biocompatibility and to provide additional specific properties, e.g., antibacterial and anticorrosive. Polymers, ceramic materials, nanoparticles, and nanoconjugates are exploited to add specific host responses for medical devices. This Special Issue focuses on the development of special bioinspired coatings for biomedical application and investigation of host response to modified materials. Biointerfaces are also under the focus of this Special Issue. In particular, the topic of interest includes but is not limited to:

• Bioinspired coatings for medical devices;
• Coatings with special functions (antibacterials, anticorrosive, antifouling, etc.);
• Coating–tissue interractions;
• Host tissue response to special coatings.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
