Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Biopolymers and their applications are one of the hottest research topics in the past decades due to their versatile properties, diversities and applications. They can be categorized in a different way like, naturally or synthesized, degradable or nondegradable, soft or hard, etc. and we can choose the most suitable one according to our needs. Their applications can be seen in implantable biomaterials, energy materials and storage systems, food packaging, etc. Nevertheless, besides of their bulk application, they can be used as a coating material to improve some weaknesses of the main substrate. Researchers have been extensively worked on improving the biopolymer coatings and film properties by the means of changing their synthesizing methods, introducing the second phase, etc. Therefore, it can be said that the main goal of the biopolymer coatings is providing desirable and suitable properties which cannot be reached through substrate of the platform. Toward achieving this goal, we’re pleased to invite you to share your valuable works regarding the “advanced biopolymer coatings and film application”.

In this Special Issue, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Biopolymers coating technique
  • Investigating on biopolymers coatings properties including mechanical, corrosion properties etc.
  • Biomedical applications of biopolymers coatings
  • Antibacterial polymer coatings
  • Advanced surface engineering techniques for biopolymer coating applications
  • Any other aspects of biopolymer coatings and film application

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
