Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The topic of building sustainability has progressively evolved in recent years, becoming an increasingly complex and interdisciplinary field of research. The scientific community has recently focused on exploring innovative business models that synthesize several considerations on the value and costs of sustainability within the built environment. However, additional challenges remain to be addressed, particularly those related to climate change, safety and health, and innovative technologies, among others. Climate change is reshaping real estate markets by introducing new investment risk profiles. Issues concerning safety and health, among other social concerns, call for a deeper reflection on how the real estate market and urban development affect human wellbeing. The potential of innovative technologies, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI), remains partly unexplored, especially regarding their application in supporting investment decision-making. This Special Issue aims to gather contributions on the effects that all these challenges may have on the real estate and construction markets, as well as on the further evolution of innovative business models linked with them.
