Dear Colleagues,
Microsensors have become an indispensable part of modern life. Based on physical principles such as electronics and mechanics, a large number of smart devices incorporating microsensors, such as smartphones, smartwatches, and smart cars, have been developed, aiming to continuously improve quality of life and well-being. However, traditional sensing methods relying on physical mechanisms still have shortcomings when dealing with complex biochemical targets, limiting their application in high-precision medical and environmental monitoring.
To overcome this bottleneck, researchers have proposed and developed novel sensing strategies based on biochemical recognition interfaces. Microfluidic chips, portable detection devices, and rapid diagnostic tools have emerged. By combining highly specific recognition molecules with signal conversion mechanisms, they enable efficient detection of target biomolecules and genetic abnormalities, showing great promise in areas such as personalized medicine, environmental monitoring, and food safety. However, these devices still face challenges in sensitivity, interference immunity, and laboratory dependence.
The introduction of fluorescence technology has opened up new opportunities for improving detection performance. By enabling the generation and efficient detection of fluorescent signals on a self-deployable platform, not only is the recognition sensitivity of target molecules enhanced, but portable and real-time detection is also enabled. This type of fluorescence-driven sensing and diagnostic platform effectively transcends laboratory limitations and is more suitable for clinical applications and on-site testing.
At the same time, the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) has empowered biosensors with more powerful data processing and interpretation capabilities. AI-driven algorithms not only enhance and denoise signals, reducing background interference, but also automatically extract features from complex data and perform intelligent discrimination, thereby advancing biosensor systems to higher levels of accuracy and intelligence.
This Special Issue aims to establish a multidisciplinary academic exchange platform to showcase the latest advances and cutting-edge trends in the field of biosensing. We particularly encourage submissions involving AI-driven biosensing research to promote the continued development of portable, intelligent, and clinically applicable detection technologies.
