Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

This Special Issue focuses on the critical and dynamic relationship between cellular dysfunction and the onset of prothrombotic conditions. Increasing evidence reveals that alterations in endothelial cells, platelets, leukocytes, and vascular smooth muscle cells are not mere bystanders but active protagonists in driving thrombotic risk. Cellular stress responses, oxidative damage, chronic inflammation, and immune–thrombotic cross-talk are at the heart of this complex network.

This Special Issue will gather cutting-edge research and comprehensive reviews unraveling the molecular and cellular mechanisms that tip the hemostatic balance toward thrombosis. We seek contributions that focus on innovative topics, including extracellular vesicles, inflammasome activation, mitochondrial dysfunction, dysregulated gene expression, and the emerging roles of non-coding RNAs and epigenetic remodeling.

Particular attention will be given to translational studies identifying novel biomarkers predictive of thrombotic events and to therapeutic strategies targeting cellular dysfunction. Manuscripts exploring clinical correlations, patient stratification based on molecular signatures, and the development of precision antithrombotic therapies are strongly encouraged.

By bridging molecular insights and clinical applications, this Special Issue strives to foster a deeper, integrative understanding of prothrombotic disorders, ultimately aiming to contribute the improvement of diagnostic precision and therapeutic innovation in cardiovascular medicine.
