Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Traditional treatment procedures have been transformed by the incorporation of digital interventions in mental health and addiction care, which aim to provide scalable, affordable, and easily accessible options. From teletherapy platforms and mobile health apps to virtual reality and AI-powered technologies, these advancements tackle obstacles including high cost, stigma, and regional restrictions. This Special Issue, titled Digital Interventions for Addiction and Mental Health, will investigate how digital technologies are being developed, used, and assessed to treat addiction and mental health conditions.
The increasing prevalence of mental health disorders and substance use challenges underscores the need for effective, evidence-based interventions. Digital tools have shown promise in delivering psychoeducation, cognitive-behavioral therapies, and mindfulness techniques, as well as in monitoring and predicting relapse risks using real-time data. However, their widespread adoption raises critical questions about efficacy, equity, user engagement, and ethical considerations.
This Special Issue invites interdisciplinary contributions examining innovative technologies, clinical trial results, usability studies, and implementation frameworks. Topics may include, but are not limited to, digital tools for early detection, treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery support in the field of mental health. The overarching goal is to bridge the gap between technology and human-centered care, advancing the conversation on how digital solutions can complement traditional therapeutic approaches.
Finally, this Special Issue will give clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and technologists important insights to enhance the field of addiction and mental health treatment by emphasizing state-of-the-art research and real-world applications.
