Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Sustainable crop and livestock production is at the heart of addressing some of the most pressing global challenges, including food security, climate change, and environmental degradation. As the demand for agricultural products continues to grow, there is an urgent need to innovate and adopt practices that enhance productivity while preserving ecosystems and natural resources.
Recent advancements in areas such as precision agriculture, climate-smart farming, sustainable feed systems, and biotechnology are transforming the way we produce food. These innovations not only improve efficiency and resilience but also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting animal welfare.
This research area is critical for developing integrated and sustainable agricultural systems that are economically viable, environmentally sound, and socially responsible. We invite you to contribute your expertise, share your findings, and engage in meaningful dialog to shape the future of sustainable agriculture.
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to our upcoming Special Issue. This Special Issue aims to bring together high-quality research, reviews, and case studies that highlight recent advances and emerging trends in the sustainable transformation of agricultural systems.
The focus is on innovative practices and technologies that address environmental concerns, enhance crop and livestock production, and contribute to overall sustainability. Topics may include—but are not limited to—climate-smart agriculture, regenerative practices, sustainable silage and feed production, precision farming, integrated pest and nutrient management, and biotechnology.
This Special Issue aligns with the journal’s scope by addressing critical global challenges such as food security, environmental stewardship, and agricultural resilience. It encourages interdisciplinary approaches and real-world applications that contribute to sustainable development goals.
We look forward to your valuable contribution to this important and timely collection.
This Special Issue aims to showcase cutting-edge research, practical innovations, and interdisciplinary approaches that advance the sustainability of crop and livestock production systems. We welcome original research articles, review papers, short communications, case studies, and perspective pieces that address both the theoretical and applied aspects of sustainable agriculture. Suggested themes include—but are not limited to—climate-smart agricultural practices, regenerative and conservation agriculture, precision farming technologies, sustainable silage and forage production, integrated crop–livestock systems, animal welfare and sustainable breeding, nutrient and pest management strategies, sustainability approaches, and the role of biotechnology in sustainable production.
We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
