Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The field of molecular biology and plant biotechnology is rapidly evolving, driven by groundbreaking advancements in technology and their transformative applications. This Special Issue, Emerging Topics in Molecular Biology and Plant Biotechnology: Innovations and Applications, will highlight the latest innovations, methodologies, and tools shaping this dynamic discipline.

We encourage submissions highlighting recent breakthroughs in genome editing (e.g., CRISPR/Cas systems); high-throughput sequencing technologies; multi-omics approaches such as transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics; and applications of AI and machine learning in molecular biology. Research exploring advancements in plant biotechnology, including but not limited to tissue culture techniques and genetic/plant transformation, is especially welcome.

This Special Issue also seeks studies addressing practical applications, including stress-tolerant crop development, biofortification, precision breeding, and innovations in sustainable agricultural practices. Interdisciplinary approaches that bridge computational tools with experimental biology to unlock new insights are highly encouraged.

By gathering state-of-the-art research and expert reviews, this Special Issue will provide a comprehensive platform for scientists and practitioners to discuss, share, and advance the knowledge frontier. Join us in exploring the transformative power of molecular biology and plant biotechnology and their pivotal roles in shaping a sustainable and resilient future.

We welcome submissions from researchers, practitioners, and innovators who are redefining the boundaries of molecular biology and plant biotechnology. This Special Issue will provide a platform for sharing knowledge, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspiring future research directions in this vibrant field.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
