Current Updates on Graphene's Electronic Properties

This special issue belongs to the section “Materials Science and Engineering“.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Introduction and Importance:

Graphene, with its exceptional electronic properties, remains a leading material in the field of nanotechnology and materials science, promising a wide array of applications in electronics, optoelectronics, and energy storage devices. Despite extensive research, emerging trends, novel properties, and experimental methods continue to expand our understanding of graphene’s potential, making this area both critical and dynamic. This Special Issue aims to bring together recent findings and innovative research approaches to better understand and harness the electronic properties of graphene thus advancing applications and setting new directions for future exploration.

Suggested Themes and Article Types for Submission:

In this Special Issue, we welcome original research articles, reviews, and mini-reviews on (but not limited to) the following areas:

  1. New Experimental and Theoretical Insights into Graphene’s Electronic Behavior: Studies addressing the unique electronic properties of graphene under varying environmental or operational conditions;
  2. Graphene-Based Heterostructures and Composites: Exploration of electronic properties in hybrid materials, including 2D heterostructures that involve graphene layers;
  3. Applications in Nanoelectronics and Flexible Electronics: Innovative applications of graphene in transistors, sensors, and flexible electronic devices;
  4. Graphene for Energy Conversion and Storage Devices: Insights into the role of graphene’s electronic properties in enhancing the performance of batteries, supercapacitors, and solar cells.

We hope this Special Issue will provide a comprehensive update on cutting-edge research, thereby guiding future work and supporting the development of graphene-based technologies.

We look forward to receiving contributions from researchers worldwide to further enrich this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
