Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Researchers and practitioners around the world have been utilizing various approaches to collect stranding data of aquatic animals and address different research questions. Anatomists are interested in the structure and function of body parts, whereas pathologists may have insights in health concerns such as parasitism. With the advances in imaging technology, conventional postmortem investigation can now be transformed into a virtual “bloodless” experience. Transdisciplinary collaborations are essential for research engagement and effective conservation strategies.
As the world is returning to normalcy in 2023, we are organizing the 4th International Cetacean Symposium on 24–28 July, 2023 (UTC+8), which will be held in Hong Kong under the theme of “Reconciliation”. The reunion of cetacean experts from across the world after 3 years of separation will be an amazing opportunity for professionals from diverse disciplines to gather and exchange current knowledge and technological innovations, and to foster international networking and collaboration. This symposium follows previous iterations of the same symposium, which took place in 2019, 2021, and 2022 and covered topics on the threats cetaceans faced and their interaction with humans. Registration is now open for everyone at https://tinyurl.com/mrxjpx9j.
In this Special Issue, we invite original research papers and reviews or studies on different aspects in the field of cetacean research, including but not limited to animal physiology, stranding investigations, clinical applications, and any innovative research approaches.
