Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Advances in wearable sensors and precision livestock farming, driven by innovations in automated data collection and real-time analytics, have led to a shift away from traditional group-level management toward individualized monitoring systems that continuously track animal health, behavior, and productivity. When designed and applied effectively, these devices facilitate early disease detection, minimize economic losses, and improve overall livestock well-being. As wearable systems continue to advance, they are becoming one of the most impactful and practical innovations for optimizing health, behavior monitoring, and welfare in modern animal agriculture.
New wearable solutions are being customized for various species, including livestock and companion animals. Devices such as medication patches, tracking collars, and electronic saddle optimizers are becoming increasingly adopted to enhance animal welfare and productivity.
This Special Issue, ‘Wearable Technologies for Enhancing Health, Behavior Monitoring, and Welfare in Animals’, invites research on recent advancements in real-time monitoring, health tracking, and welfare assessment, highlighting their advantages, limitations, and applications in modern livestock farming.
