We are pleased to announce that the winner of the Religions 2023 Young Investigator Award is Dr. Stefano Abbate.

Dr. Stefano Abbate is an Associate Professor of Social Philosophy at the Abat Oliba CEU University in Barcelona, Spain. His research focuses on understanding eschatological hope in the early Church fathers (especially in St. lrenaeus of Lyon), in St. Augustine Of Hippo, in St. Bonaventure, and finally in Joachim of Fiore. His research trajectory was recognized by the Pontifical Academies of St. Thomas Aquinas and Theology in 2018, thanks to his doctoral work on the influence of ancient Jewish error (Ebionism) and Greek error (Gnosticism) in philosophical modernity. This distinct honor was awarded to Dr. Abbate by His Holiness Pope Francis. Additionally, he has studied the influence of Gnosis, and to a lesser extent Ebionism, on philosophical modernity and postmodernity, publishing various articles on this influence on transhumanism, nationalism, gender studies, and the sense of community in postmodernity. His work significantly enhances our comprehension of intricate and contemporary matters pertaining to religion and philosophy. As the awardee, Dr. Stefano Abbate will receive an honorarium of CHF 2000, an offer to publish a paper free of charge before 31 December 2024 in Religions (ISSN: 2077-1444) after peer-review, and an electronic certificate.
