We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Jochen Wöhrle has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of the Section “Cardiovascular Clinical Research” in the Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease (JCDD, ISSN: 2308-3425).

Prof. Dr. Jochen Wöhrle is Head of the Department of Cardiology and Intensive Care, Medical Campus Lake Constance, Friedrichshafen, Germany. He is an international expert on cardiovascular research, including medical treatment or interventional therapy. Prof. Dr. Wöhrle has published hundreds of manuscripts, abstracts, and reviews on cardiovascular clinical research.

The following is a short Q&A with Prof. Dr. Jochen Wöhrle, who shared his vision for the Section with us as well as his views on the research area and open access publishing:

1. What appealed to you about the journal that made you want to take on the role of its Section Editor-in-Chief?

The Journal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease is an excellent journal with high-quality manuscripts on original research and reviews. It is absolutely a great pleasure to have the chance to be the Editor-in-Chief of the Section “Cardiovascular Clinical Research”.

2. What is your vision for the journal?

To further increase the number of readers and the number of researchers submitting their work to JCDD.

3. What does the future of this field of research look like?

The future of cardiovascular research is absolutely fascinating. The rapid development of new medical therapies, in combination with future interventional technologies, helps our patients achieve fast recovery from cardiovascular disease.

4. What do you think of the development of open access in the publishing field?

Open access is maximally important to allow researchers and readers to get information from the latest cardiovascular research. There is no delay in getting this information. The future of open access is already present with JCDD.
