A chip is a set of electronic circuits on one small flat piece (or “chip”) of semiconductor material. In modern societies, all kinds of digital home appliances have been connected via the small size and low cost of integrated circuits, such as modern computer processors and microcontrollers, i.e., chip [1]. IEEE spectrum created the “Chip Hall of Fame” to commemorate the chips that have affected the computing world [2].
MDPI has supported academic communities since 1996. At present, MDPI is one of the top four scholarly journal publishers in the world. It is our mission to foster open scientific exchange in all forms, across all disciplines [3]. Although MDPI has journals publishing papers on chips, such as Sensors [4], Electronics [5] and Micromachines [6], we see a great need to launch a new journal, dedicated to the advanced science and technologies of chips, Chips (ISSN: 2674-0729) [7]. This is an open access journal covering all aspects of chip design and applications. We welcome the broad research community with expertise in chips to contribute to the development of this platform.
As with other MDPI journals, we will maintain a fast and rigorous peer review process for this new journal. We hope that you will enjoy publishing with us.
