Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The presented work is with Surfactin foam fractionation shows importance of temperature, gas flow rates on adsorption parameters and that of efficiency of foam fractionation process.

There are few changes that I recommend.

First there few grammatical mistakes for example in line 45 "resulting in the interest concentrated solute" Therefore I recommend the authors to proof read the document.

Also the heading for section 3.2 should be "liquid foam concentration" as it present the concentration in foam.

One more clarification which is needed is that, the Surfactin used for adsorption isotherms and that of foam fractionation are of different sources. It would be good for the readers to show how the the adsorption isotherm vary for both the different sources of Surfactin.

Morever estimation of concentration of technical grade Surfactin by comparing to that of  adsorption isotherm to analytical grade Surfactin must be justified.

Response to Reviewer 1 Comments

Dear Reviewer,

Point 1: First there few grammatical mistakes for example in line 45 “resulting in the interest concentrated solute”. Therefore I recommend the authors to proof read the document.

Response 1: a professional has reviewed the document (attached). Therefore, the grammatical errors were corrected and the wording of the revised English, as highlighted in the document (in red in the text).

Point 2: Also the heading for section 3.2 should be "liquid foam concentration" as it present the concentration in foam.

Response 2: The title of section 3.2 (line 316) was modified to "Liquid foam concentration", as suggested by the reviewer.

Point 3: One more clarification which is needed is that, the Surfactin used for adsorption isotherms and that of foam fractionation are of different sources. It would be good for the readers to show how the the adsorption isotherm vary for both the different sources of Surfactin.

Response 3: We authors have made a writing error in the sentence: "The analytical curve and the adsorption isotherms were obtained with Standard surfactin "(line 159). The adsorption isotherms were obtained with surfactin synthesized by the same microbial source. Therefore, we removed the sentence "... and the adsorption isotherms were ...", as highlighted in the document (red and yellow in text - line 159, section 2.1).

Reviewer 2 Report

The Manuscript (ID: processes-448411) “Surfactin concentration ascertainment in bubbles and foam column operated in semi-batch”, describes a mathematical model for the convection, diffusion and balance phenomena for predicting the depletion curves, variations in the timed surface-active molecules concentration for fractionation processes in bubbles and foam column, operated in semi-batch. It is an interesting work and suitable for considering to publish in the MDPI journal of ‘Processes’. The English language needs to be carefully checked and edited by a native English speaker before publication.
