The overall presentation and objective of the work is good and interesting.

However the author must clarify few points.

i) Explain fig.7 more elaborately. i.e. try to improve the co-efficient of determination (R2) value which very low for each model.

This manuscript is well write. The results  has been discussed very nicely. So, I would recommend to accept this paper for the publication.

Mechanical properties of the rock materials have been studied. Yes this study is relevent and interesting.   This topic is original and  this study will give  an idea about theoretical model for estimating the peak cutting force of conical picks based on the improved projection profile method which influence the alloy head and pick body structure  
* Is the paper well written? Is the text clear and easy to read?  Response: Yes 
Conclusions consistent with the evidence and address the main question posed.   Author agrees significantly with the current academic consensus.   In some of the figure, data fittings are not appropriate (means R2 is less than 0.9 )
