Visual Scratch Defect Detection System of Aluminum Flat Tube Based on Cubic Bezier Curve Fitting Using Linear Scan Camera
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
In this article, authors proposed a scratch detection system based on cubic Bezier curve fitting using linear scan camera in real-time under complex uncertain background noise. The key point of the proposed method was using Monte Carlo sampling method to calculate the best fitted cubic Bezier curves of every point in the vertical projection histogram curve, and the scratches were detected by finding the local peaks of curvature curve. The experiments results based on linear scan camera which captured the image of flat tubes on a moving speed of 2m/s shown that the total FN and FP results are at the same level as experienced works, while its efficiency is higher because it can work tirelessly, which means it is possible to substitute the workers by our system in the future. The experiment results of different fitting curve lengths shown that selection of this parameter was important to the algorithm performance, the selection should depend on application requirements, which means an adaptive selection of fitting curve length will be an issue worthy of study in the future.
Aricle is well written, and will be helpful for readers, there are some points related to this work:
1) What is the benefit of using Bezier curve fitting technique instead of other techniques
2)Why used monte carlo scheme instead of other improved schemes
3) few typos like nth it should be n^th, n are integers or whole numbers? a lot of typos and grammatical mistake like a sentence is started from X\in a bad notation.....
Add the following articles in reference 1)Interpolative C´iric´-Reich-Rus-type best proximity point results with applications, 2)Strong Convergence Theorems for a Finite Family of Enriched Strictly Pseudocontractive Mappings and ΦT-Enriched Lipschitizian Mappings Using a New Modified Mixed-Type Ishikawa Iteration Scheme with Error
The article can be accepted after this major revision.

The manuscript lacks sufficient scientific interest to merit publication and could not be accepted in the present format The major shortcomings are:
- The poorness in the organization and presentation.
- The absence of a detailed analysis of the results.
Also, introductory section should clearly explain the relevance of the presented research. It should also indicate, why the methodology used in the present study was chosen and why it will provide new insights.

Your paper entitled, Visual Scratch Defect Detection System of Aluminum Flat Tube Based on Cubic Bezier Curve Fitting Using Linear Scan Camera, is very interesting. Manufacturers of automobile heat exchangers and air conditioning systems for automobiles and households will benefit from a small volume, highly efficient, compact, and light weight surface scratch defect detection system. Your advanced scratch detection system, based on cubic Bezier curve fitting using a linear scan camera, has advantages over the various machine vision methods that detect defects such as pits and holes.
My comments/recommendations are provided below.
- Recommend that a description (page 4) be added to the Figure 4 Legend for (c) and (d) to explain the arrows.
- Recommend that “Figure 11” on Line 319 precede the actual Figure 11 on page 11.
- Recommend that “Figure 12. Result1 and Figure 13. Result2” be moved beneath the Figures on page 13.
- Recommend that “Figure 14. Result3 and Figure 15. Result4” be moved beneath the Figures on page 14.
- Recommend that the following sentence (Lines 370-374) be made into 2 sentences: The experiments results based on linear scan camera which captured the image of flat tubes on a moving speed of 2m/s shown that the total FN and FP results are at the same level as experienced works, while its efficiency is higher because it can work tirelessly, which means it is possible to substitute the workers by our system in the future.
I made a few suggestions to improve sentence structure (See the attached PDF document – Comments / Recommendations are in Sticky Notes).

The authors have well revised and enhanced the quality of the manuscript. However, the main concern lies in the fact that the quality of the figures does not meet the standards of the journal.
The font size of all figures should be increased throughout the manuscript. The font should be readable and understandable within the default view.
