Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The scientific merit of the work is relatively low as it presents well known problems of Indoor Farming with uninteresting findings.

The main merit is to actually present valuable data of a commercial case study which is useful for commercial and real example applications.

Minor points: I would use KWh instead of Jules in Figures 2 & 3. Also I would present the actual results in a table not just curves of best fit.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is a well-written manuscript that provides valuable information regarding resource utilization efficiencies for lettuce production in a CPPS.  Specifically, this research provides much needed practical knowledge about actual resource use in a commercial facility. Please see the line-by-line comments below for my specific comments and suggestions.

L58: Crop spacing and shelf size would be helpful information to include here.

L60: I recommend the authors provide specific information about the hydroponic systems used.

L82: Spacing or size of the 30-hole panels would be helpful information to include. This information was provided for the 153-hole panel previously.

L107: I don't see where "Eh" is defined. This should be added.

L136: Remove “were also estimated” as this was already stated on L135.

L151-153: I recommend the authors provide more information on sampling interval (was this monthly?), how plants were selected for sampling, and how many plants were sampled each time to reach the n provided.

L200: Add “.” at the end of the sentence.

L216: Ensure CO2 has subscript.

L219: Consider change of wording to “The average monthly electricity…”

L230: I would recommend the authors provide more background and information on this “reported value” and the significance of this comparison with their data. There is a similar reference to a "reported value" on L277-278.
