Reviewer 2 Report

The manuscript is well written, with a clear message delivered to the reader. Methods are clearly presented and discussed. The discussion of results is well-structured. The conclusions are supported by the obtained results. See my comments

Abstract. Well written. However, I would like to see results with some key concrete values, supporting the feasibility of the proposed analytical solutions.

LINE 32. “The dispersion coefficient and pore velocity in an advection-dispersion process have generally been treated as constants in previous studies”

Cite the previous studies.

LINE 38. “Groundwater flow can vary spatially due to pumping and injection for contaminant remediation”

Give references, e.g.: https://doi.org/10.3301/ROL.2019.05

The literature review is comprehensive but somewhere not up-to-dated, e.g. [6-9]. I would suggest considering the following reports:

https://doi.org/10.3390/soilsystems2030040

https://doi.org/10.1111/gwat.12564

https://doi.org/10.3390/su12072949

LINE  118. “Initially, the domain is solute free”

I would see that initially the domain is assumed to be solute free

LINE 125. “The dimensionless function PHI(t) in Equation (4) is determined from PHI1(t) 1, … and g(t) through derivation of the pertinent transformation”

Please cite that specific conditions for the parameters are assumed for Cases 1 to 4.

LINE 138. I understand there is little available space. Nevertheless, try to improve readability.

In “Author Contribution” Authors’ initials may be conveniently adopted instead of full surnames.

The reference style seems to be fully respected.
