Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In this manuscript the authors report on an in-depth colorimetric analysis of three series of Ln complexes: namely Eu, Tb, Dy and Sm, with Lc2, (do3a-c) and dipic ligands.

The colorimetric properties of the Eu and Tb with dipic ligand were already studied by the authors in a previous paper (ref 9 in the text). This is thus an extension work that however add much data and information to the Ln based systems compared to what was already reported previously.

The manuscript is well written, readable in all its parts and technically sound. I suggest publication in the present form.

Reviewer 2 Report

This is a very good paper about colorimetry of the emission spectra of lanthanide complexes. The paper is well written and all the experiments have been conducted with care.

I feel that this paper will be much apperciated by the lanthanide photophysics community as it clarifies many points related to the issue of white light emission.

I recommend puplication of the paper in its current form as soon as possible.

Reviewer 3 Report

I carefully read the work entitled: "Colorimetry of luminescent lanthanide complexes" by Julien Andres, Anne-Sophie Chauvin.

The work is well written and presented in a readable and clear form. Nevertheless, the manuscript describes the colorimetry of lanthanide complexes and its applications from an instrumental point of view and less on the chemical aspect of these molecules. I appreciated the work, which in my opinion can be accepted in the present form.
