Recent Advances in Electrical Insulation Materials and Technologies
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Electrical insulation materials and technologies are crucial for ensuring the reliability of electrical equipment such as high-voltage power apparatus, electronic devices, and spacecraft. Insulating materials can be solid (such as polymers, ceramics, or composite materials), liquid or gas. With the rapid development of renewable energy integration, high-voltage applications, and advanced electronics, there is an increasing demand for innovative insulation materials with enhanced dielectric, thermal, and mechanical properties. Additionally, sustainability concerns are driving research into environmentally friendly and recyclable insulation materials with reduced carbon footprints. Therefore, innovative insulation materials and the dependence of insulation properties on material structures are key issues in the fields of both electrical engineering and material science. This Topic aims to present recent studies and perspectives on advanced insulation materials for future electrical and electronic applications. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Solid materials, insulating liquids, and green gases for high electric field applications;
- Polymers, ceramics, and composite insulating materials;
- Dielectric phenomena in insulating materials;
- The structure–property relationship of insulating materials;
- Electrical insulation techniques under extreme conditions;
- Environmentally friendly insulating materials; Energy storage materials.
