Sustainable Construction: Globalize, Organize, Build, Unite, Innovate, Lead, Develop
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to introduce this Topic, which examines the technological, organisational, educational, and societal changes driving sustainable and resilient built environments. We invite original research and review papers that advance knowledge and practice across the following themes:
- Globalize: Sustainable development, global challenges, and international best practice.
- Organize: Workforce capability, professional development, workplace transitions, and organizational transformation.
- Build: Planning, scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, project performance, and sustainable construction.
- Unite: Resilient infrastructure, disaster management, collaboration, and social sustainability.
- Innovate: Artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), digital twins, robotics, automation, and emerging technologies.
- Lead: Governance, policy, regulations, legal frameworks, competitiveness, and strategic leadership.
- Develop: Lifelong learning, built environment education, curriculum innovation, knowledge transfer, and research capacity building.
- Cross-Cutting Themes: Building science, energy performance, lifecycle sustainability, supply chains, value engineering, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), offsite construction, fabrication, industrialized delivery, and predictive maintenance.
We particularly welcome contributions showing how AI, ML, and technological, organisational, and educational innovation can improve productivity, efficiency, sustainability, resilience, and social and economic outcomes across construction and infrastructure. By connecting researchers, educators, industry professionals, and policymakers, this Topic seeks to advance intelligent and sustainable construction worldwide.

Preprints.org is a multidisciplinary platform offering a preprint service designed to facilitate the early sharing of your research. It supports and empowers your research journey from the very beginning.
MDPI Topics is collaborating with Preprints.org and has established a direct connection between MDPI journals and the platform. Authors are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity by posting their preprints at Preprints.org prior to publication:
- Share your research immediately: disseminate your ideas prior to publication and establish priority for your work.
- Safeguard your intellectual contribution: Protect your ideas with a time-stamped preprint that serves as proof of your research timeline.
- Boost visibility and impact: Increase the reach and influence of your research by making it accessible to a global audience.
- Gain early feedback: Receive valuable input and insights from peers before submitting to a journal.
- Ensure broad indexing: Web of Science (Preprint Citation Index), Google Scholar, Crossref, SHARE, PrePubMed, Scilit and Europe PMC.
