This Topic aims to bring together recent advances in AI-enabled underwater sensor networks and marine robotics, with a focus on communication, navigation, and localization in complex aquatic environments. Underwater systems face unique challenges such as limited bandwidth, high propagation delay, energy constraints, and unstable communication links. At the same time, marine robots and autonomous underwater vehicles are increasingly being deployed for exploration, environmental monitoring, offshore infrastructure inspection, and defense applications.
The Topic encourages original research articles and review papers that integrate artificial intelligence, machine learning, and signal processing methods to enhance system performance. Key areas include intelligent communication protocols for underwater networks, cooperative multi-robot navigation strategies, robust localization techniques in GPS-denied environments, and data-driven decision-making for autonomous marine systems. Contributions addressing security, reliability, scalability, and real-time operation are also highly relevant.
