Consumer-accessible and user-friendly smart products such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), or drones, have become widely used, adaptable, and acceptable devices to observe, assess, measure, and explore urban and natural environments. A drone’s relatively low cost and flexibility in the level of expertise required to operate it has enabled users from novice to industry professionals to adapt a malleable technology to various disciplines. This review examines the academic literature and maps how drones are currently being used in 93 rural and regional city councils in New South Wales, Australia. Through a systematic review of the academic literature and scrutiny of current drone use in these councils using publicly available information found on council websites, findings reveal potential uses of drone technology for local governments who want to engage with smart technology devices. We looked at how drones were being used in the management of the council’s environment; health and safety initiatives; infrastructure; planning; social and community programmes; and waste and recycling. These findings suggest that drone technology is increasingly being utilised in rural and regional areas. While the focus is on rural and regional New South Wales, a review of the academic literature and local council websites provides a snapshot of drone use examples that holds global relevance for local councils in urban and remote areas seeking to incorporate drone technology into their daily practice of city, town, or region governance. High-quality, openly accessible clinical datasets remain a significant bottleneck in advancing both research and clinical applications within medical artificial intelligence. Case reports, often rich in multimodal clinical data, represent an underutilized resource for developing medical AI applications. We present an enhanced version of MultiCaRe, a dataset derived from open-access case reports on PubMed Central. This new version addresses the limitations identified in the previous release and incorporates newly added clinical cases and images (totaling 93,816 and 130,791, respectively), along with a refined hierarchical taxonomy featuring over 140 categories. Image labels have been meticulously curated using a combination of manual and machine learning-based label generation and validation, ensuring a higher quality for image classification tasks and the fine-tuning of multimodal models. To facilitate its use, we also provide a Python package for dataset manipulation, pretrained models for medical image classification, and two dedicated websites. The updated MultiCaRe dataset expands the resources available for multimodal AI research in medicine. Its scale, quality, and accessibility make it a valuable tool for developing medical AI systems, as well as for educational purposes in clinical and computational fields. Full article

Background/Objectives: Patients with an ileoanal pouch change their diet to manage their symptoms and will often resort to the internet for nutrition advice. Currently, no evidence-based dietary guidelines exist to inform online resources. Hence, this study aims to assess the quality of online nutrition information directed towards patients with an ileoanal pouch. Methods: A systematic Google search was conducted to identify consumer websites including information on nutrition for those with ileoanal pouches. Quality was assessed using the DISCERN instrument, and the readability of written content was assessed using the Flesch–Kincaid score. A summative content analysis was used to identify the frequency of particular topics. Websites were also assessed against standards from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) framework for shared decision-making support tools. Results: A total of 12 websites met the inclusion criteria. Mean total DISCERN scores across all websites are 33 out of 75, indicating that overall, the websites were of poor quality. The mean Flesch–Kincaid score was 57 out of 100, or “fairly difficult” in terms of readability. The main themes according to the content analysis were “general dietary advice for pouch”, “dietary strategies for symptom management”, “addressing risks associated with having a pouch”, and “optimisation of nutritional intake”. Overall, websites did not meet the standards for shared decision-making. Conclusions: Online nutrition information for patients with an ileoanal pouch is of poor quality and difficult to understand. There is a need for higher quality online resources for these patients, ideally co-produced with a multidisciplinary team and patient, to provide patients with good quality, understandable, and accessible nutrition information. Throughout the generations, traditional academic writing skills development has taught students in socio-human programs to express their knowledge and thoughts with an evidence-based foundation, helping them make a special connection with their professional fields. However, a lack of digital learning and writing resources in this process has been identified. This study of the social work field connects digital academic writing, social protection functionality, and research innovations, identifying and exploring open-access (OA) educational and social resources for social work higher education (SWHE). Applying content analyses to online documents and websites, we identified key terms characteristic of social work, following a standard approach on formulating research questions, identifying categories, creating a code book, sampling, and measuring information. The research questions were as follows: How is digital academic writing being developed in social work education programs in Romanian universities? Where do researchers, students, teachers, and professionals gather OA digital information and data for academic innovation? What kind of OA information and data are contained in websites for academic writing? We also used OA socio-educational resource analysis to derive digital, evidence-based, and academic writing codes. The frequencies of these elements in documents and websites were examined. Professional samples of four OA documents and five academic and non-academic Romanian websites with extensions were processed. Furthermore, information from a non-academic official website concerning social protection functionality was observed, identified, and measured. We concluded that academic writing is not included as an independent course in the curricula of Romanian social work programs at universities; this topic is rarely researched. Digital and evidence-based education is also a marginalized topic in socio-human scientific resources. OA information, laws, reports, and statistics were identified. Information on scientific research, academic–non-academic partnerships, descriptions of good practices, and human resources information was lacking. In conclusion, this study contributes to increasing productivity and developing digital academic skills in social work education and research. Full article

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) affects 7–9% of pregnancies worldwide and is associated with adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Nutritional therapy is a key component of GDM management. However, inconsistencies exist across international and national guidelines regarding macronutrient distribution, glycemic targets, and micronutrient supplementation. This systematic review aims to compare updated nutritional recommendations for GDM across major health organizations and identify areas of consensus, divergence, and evidence gaps. Methods: This systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines and registered in PROSPERO (CRD420251026194). A comprehensive literature search was performed in PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar (concluding March 2025), along with manual searches of official websites of professional health organizations (e.g., ADA, WHO, NICE, IDF). Guidelines published within the last 10 years (or the most relevant national guideline if slightly older), available in English or with access to translation, and including explicit nutritional recommendations for GDM were included. Data were extracted on macronutrient composition, glycemic targets, and micronutrient supplementation, with evaluation of the supporting evidence and regional context, incorporating findings from recent key guideline updates. Results: In total, 12 guidelines met the inclusion criteria. While all guidelines emphasized carbohydrate moderation and adequate fiber intake, significant discrepancies were found in carbohydrate quality recommendations (e.g., low-glycemic index focus vs. total carbohydrate restriction), postprandial glucose targets (e.g., 1-h vs. 2-h measurements and varying thresholds like <120 vs. <140 mg/dL), and the use of non-routine micronutrients such as chromium, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids (generally lacking endorsement). Recent updates from key bodies like ADA, Diabetes Canada, and KDA largely maintain these core stances but show increasing emphasis on dietary patterns and acknowledgement of CGM technology, without resolving key discrepancies. Cultural adaptability and behavioral counselling strategies were minimally addressed across most guidelines. Conclusions: Despite general agreement on the principal recommendations of nutritional management in GDM, substantial variation persists in specific recommendations, even considering recent updates. Consistent, evidence-based, and culturally adaptable guidelines incorporating implementation strategies are needed to optimize care and reduce disparities in GDM management across regions. This study examines the use of digitalized educational solutions among students in higher education institutions (HEIs). Drawing upon theories of technology, digitalization, and education, we analyze the suitability of different digitalization solutions for students in HEIs. Educational organizations that apply different digitalized technologies provide customizable platforms for authoring and disseminating multimedia-rich e-education and smart education. However, pedagogical practices indicate several gaps between the level of HEI digitalization achieved and its suitability for HEI participants. Thus, we analyze the state of various digitalized technologies in HEIs and their suitability for meeting students’ expectations. The results of our research show that students most highly rate modern educational methods such as practical learning supported by access to digitized materials via websites, social networks, and smartphones while assigning a lower rating to the use of classic education, supported by digital textbooks and traditional technologies such as Skype, Zoom, podcasts, and online videos. This study has several theoretical implications, among which is the need to further develop highly digitized materials and purpose-designed digitized solutions for individual areas and specific educational purposes. The practical implications indicate the need to expand the use of website networks, smartphones, and smart table solutions in modern educational practices in HEIs. Full article

Suppliers nowadays can be directly approached in business-to-business (B2B) E-commerce websites. This makes the product and service information of certain suppliers accessible in online reviews. Therefore, online reviews have become important for B2B supplier evaluation and selection. Recently, the sustainability of food packaging has attracted increasing attention from companies and consumers. This study developed a novel multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method called Percentage Assessment with Synergistic Comparisons And Aggregated Ranks (PASCAAR) to support the selection of sustainable food package suppliers based on online review information in B2B E-commerce websites. Such a method used three different percentage comparisons between alternatives and the minimal options, and then aggregates the comparisons with their ranks. This study confirmed the effectiveness of PASCAAR by applying it to a case study to select the supplier of sustainable food packages (i.e., biodegradable food containers) from six candidates in the B2B E-commerce website by considering multi-dimensional online review information and their own product properties. Using PASCAAR, this study obtained the outcome that the third candidate is the most suitable one, as quantitative results indicate this supplier has the highest PASCAAR score. Based on the results, this study further conducted thorough sensitivity tests to validate the results. It can be found that, compared with the classical MCDM methods in measuring the performance of alternatives and aggregating evaluation scores, the PASCAAR method can have more robust and informative results. This study also developed a PASCAAR Solver to enable easy implementation of this method. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing new ranking and aggregation ideas in MCDM and can offer practitioners a more informative and highly actionable method for supplier selection and decision support system development by utilizing online review information. Nowadays, consumers are becoming increasingly concerned about the husbandry conditions under which animals are raised, particularly broilers, since broilers are one of the species whose welfare is most impaired in intensive farming systems. One of the primary means of communicating husbandry practices to consumers is through product labelling. Thus, a rising number of animal welfare labelling schemes for broilers are being developed and used across Europe by initiatives of both public and private stakeholders, including NGOs that advocate for animal welfare. This review aims to identify, analyze, and compare these labelling schemes with a focus on the main animal welfare provisions included in them, which contribute to enhanced animal welfare. The schemes were identified through web searches, so that we could visit their official websites, access their standards and regulations and study them in detail. We included in our research only those schemes whose criteria were publicly available. In total, 16 schemes were selected and analyzed. Although these schemes vary in their criteria, they all enhance the welfare standards of broiler production, primarily through incorporating environmental enrichment and/or access to the outdoors. Most schemes define and specify in detail the required animal welfare provisions, setting a clear application frame for the raising period of the birds. However, the welfare of animals during transport and slaughter is often overlooked. Full article

Background: Teaching methodology has recently undergone significant evolution from traditional apprenticeship models as we adapt to ever-increasing rates of technological advancement. Big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are on the precipice of revolutionising all aspects of surgical practice, with far-reaching implications. Robotic platforms will increase in autonomy as machine learning rapidly becomes more sophisticated, and therefore training requirements will no longer slow innovation. Materials and Methods: A search of published studies discussing surgeon training and computer-enhanced simulation robotics and emerging technologies using MEDLINE, PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, CRANE, CINAHL, and Web of Science was performed in January 2024. Online resources associated with proprietary technologies related to the subject matter were also utilised. Results: Following a review of 3209 articles, 91 of which were published, relevant articles on aspects of robotics-based computer-enhanced simulation, technologies, and education were included. Publications ranged from RCTs, cohort studies, meta-analysis, and systematic reviews. The content of eight medical technology-based websites was analysed and included in this review to ensure the most up-to-date information was analysed. Discussion: Surgeons should aim to be at the forefront of this revolution for the ultimate benefit of patients. Surgical exposure will no longer be due to incidental experiences. Rather, surgeons and trainees will have access to a complete database of simulated minimally invasive procedures, and procedural simulation certification will likely become a requisite from graduation to live operating to maintain rigorous patient safety standards. This review provides a comprehensive outline of the current and future status of surgical training in the robotic and digital era. Full article

Knowledge extraction and sharing is one of the biggest challenges organizations face to ensure successful and long-lasting knowledge repositories. The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) commissioned a web-based knowledge management program called Communicate Lessons, Exchange Advice, Record (CLEAR) for end-users to promote employee-generated innovation and to institutionalize organizational knowledge. Reusing knowledge from an improperly managed database is problematic and potentially causes substantial financial loss and reduced productivity for an organization. Poorly managed databases can hinder effective knowledge dissemination across the organization. Data-driven dashboards offer a promising solution by facilitating evidence-driven decision-making through increased information access to disseminate, understand and interpret datasets. This paper describes an effort to create data visualizations in Tableau for CLEAR’s gatekeeper to monitor content within the knowledge repository. Through the three web-based strategic dashboards relating to lessons learned and best practices, innovation culture index, and website analytics, the information displays will aid in disseminating useful information to facilitate decision-making and execute appropriate time-critical interventions. Particular emphasis is placed on utility-related issues, as data from the NCDOT indicate that approximately 90% of projects involving utility claims experienced one or two such incidents. These claims contributed to an average increase in project costs of approximately 2.4% and schedule delays averaging 70 days. The data dashboards provide key insights into all 14 NCDOT divisions, supporting the gatekeeper in effectively managing the CLEAR program, especially relating to project performance, cost savings, and schedule improvements. The chronological analysis of the CLEAR program trends demonstrates sustained progress, validating the effectiveness of the dashboard framework. Ultimately, these data dashboards will promote organizational innovation in the long run by encouraging end-user participation in the CLEAR program. Full article

The world is characterised by the growing volumes and flow of goods, which, amid benefits to economic development, result in negative externalities affecting the sustainability of cities. Although numerous studies have analysed the locational patterns of logistics facilities in cities, further research is required to examine their real estate patterns and trends. The aim of the paper is, therefore, to analyse the value of land accommodating logistics facilities in the City of Cape Town municipality, South Africa. Given the lack of dedicated geo-spatial data, logistics firms were searched on Google Maps, utilising a combination of aerial photography and street view imagery. Three main attributes of land parcels hosting logistics facilities were thereafter captured from the municipal cadastral information: property extent, street address, and property number. The latter two were used to extract the 2018 and 2022 property market values from the valuation rolls on the municipal website, followed by statistical, spatial, and geographically weighted regression (GWR) analyses. Zones near the central business district and seaport, as well as areas with prime road-based accessibility, had high market values, while those near the railway stations did not stand out. However, GWR yielded weak relationships between market values and the locational variables analysed, arguably showing a disconnect between spatial planning and logistics planning. Towards augmenting sustainable logistics, it is recommended that relevant stakeholders strategically integrate logistics into spatial planning, and particularly revitalise freight rail to attract investment to logistics hubs with direct railway access. Background/objectives: Social media has significantly enhanced access to medical knowledge by enabling rapid information sharing. With YouTube being the second-most popular website, we intended to evaluate the quality of its content as a source of information for patients and relatives for information about cerebral palsy. Methods: The first 30 videos for search terms “Cerebral palsy”, “Spastic cerebral palsy”, “Dyskinetic cerebral palsy”, “Worster-Drought syndrome”, and “Ataxic cerebral palsy” were selected for inquiry. Out of 150 films, a total of 83 were assessed with a mixed method approach by two independent raters utilizing evidence-based quality scales such as Quality Criteria for Consumer Health Information (DISCERN), the Journal of the American Medical Association instrument (JAMA), and the Global Quality Score (GQS). Furthermore, audience engagement was analyzed, and the Video Power Index (VPI) was calculated for each video. Results: The mean total DISCERN score excluding the final question (subjective assessment of the video) was 30.5 ± 8.7 (out of 75 points), implying that the quality of the videos was poor. The global JAMA score was 2.36 ± 0.57 between the raters. The mean GQS score reached 2.57 ± 0.78. The videos had statistically higher DISCERN scores when they included treatment options, risk factors, anatomy, definition, information for doctors, epidemiology, doctor as a speaker, and patient experience. Conclusions: YouTube seems to be a poor source of information for patients and relatives on cerebral palsy. The analysis can contribute to creating more engaging, holistic, and informative videos regarding this topic. Full article

A Two-Stage Model for Factors Influencing Citation Counts

This work aims to use a suitable regression model to study a count response random variable, namely, the number of citations of a research paper, that is affected by some explanatory variables. The count variable exhibits substantial variation, as the sample variance is larger than the sample mean; thus, the classical Poisson regression model seems not to be appropriate. We concentrate our attention on the negative binomial regression model, which allows the variance of each measurement to be a function of its predicted value. Nevertheless, the process of citations of papers may be divided into two parts. In the first stage, the paper has no citations, while the second part provides the intensity of the citations. A hurdle model for separating documents with citations and those without citations is considered. The dataset for empirical application consisted of 43,190 research papers in the Economics and Business field from 2014–2021, which were obtained from The Lens database. Citation counts and social attention scores for each article were gathered from the Altmetric database. The main findings indicate that both collaboration and funding have positive impacts on citation counts and reduce the likelihood of receiving zero citations. Open access (OA) via repositories (green OA) correlates with higher citation counts and a lower probability of zero citations. In contrast, OA via the publisher’s website without an explicit open license (bronze OA) is associated with higher citation counts but also with a higher probability of zero citations. In addition, open access in subscription-based journals (hybrid OA) increases citation counts, although the effect is modest. There are clear disciplinary differences, with the prestige of the journal playing a significant role in citation counts. Articles with lower expert ratings tend to be cited less frequently and are more likely to be cited zero times. Meanwhile, news and blog mentions boost citations and reduce the likelihood of receiving no citations, while policy mentions also enhance citation counts and significantly lower the risk of being cited zero times. In contrast, patent mentions have a negative impact on citations. The influence of social media varies: X/Twitter and Wikipedia mentions increase citations and reduce the likelihood of being uncited, whereas Facebook and video mentions negatively impact citation counts. Digital agriculture has rapidly developed in the last decade in many countries where the share of agricultural production is a significant part of the total volume of gross production. Digital agroecosystems are developed using a variety of IT solutions, software and hardware tools, wired and wireless data transmission technologies, open source code, Open API, etc. A special place in agroecosystems is occupied by electronic payment technologies and blockchain technologies, which allow farmers and other agricultural enterprises to conduct commodity and monetary transactions with suppliers, creditors, and buyers of products. Such ecosystems contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture, agricultural engineering, and management of production and financial operations in the agricultural industry and related industries, as well as in other sectors of the economy of a number of countries. The introduction of crypto solutions in the agricultural sector is designed to create integrated platforms aimed at helping farmers manage supply lines or gain access to financial services. At the same time, there are risks of illegal use of computing power for cryptocurrency mining—cryptojacking. This article offers a thorough risk assessment of cryptojacking attacks on endpoint systems, focusing on identifying critical vulnerabilities within IT infrastructures and outlining practical preventive measures. The analysis examines key attack vectors—including compromised websites, infected applications, and supply chain infiltration—and explores how unauthorized cryptocurrency mining degrades system performance and endangers data security. The research methodology combines an evaluation of current cybersecurity trends, a review of specialized literature, and a controlled experiment simulating cryptojacking attacks. The findings highlight the importance of multi-layered protection mechanisms and ongoing system monitoring to detect malicious activities at an early stage. Full article

The Behaviours in Dementia Toolkit: A Descriptive Study on the Reach and Early Impact of a Digital Health Resource Library About Dementia-Related Mood and Behaviour Changes

Background: Dementia is a syndrome with a high global prevalence that includes a number of progressive diseases of the brain affecting various cognitive domains such as memory and thinking and the performance of daily activities. It manifests as symptoms which often include significant mood and behaviour changes that are highly varied. Changed moods and behaviours due to dementia may reflect distress and may be stressful for both the person living with dementia and their informal and formal carers. To provide dementia care support specific to mood and behaviour changes, the Behaviours in Dementia Toolkit website (BiDT) was developed using human-centred design principles. The BiDT houses a user-friendly, digital library of over 300 free, practical, and evidence-informed resources to help all care partners better understand and compassionately respond to behaviours in dementia so they can support people with dementia to live well. Objective: (1) To characterize the users that visited the BiDT; and (2) to understand the platform’s early impact on these users. Methods: A multi-method, descriptive study was conducted in the early post-website launch period. Outcomes and measures examined included the following: (1) reach: unique visitors, region, unique visits, return visits, bounce rate; (2) engagement: engaged users, engaged sessions, session duration, pages viewed, engagement rate per webpage, search terms, resources accessed; (3) knowledge change; (4) behaviour change; and (5) website impact: relevance, feasibility, intention to use, improving access and use of dementia guidance, recommend to others. Data was collected using Google Analytics and an electronic survey of website users. Results: From 4 February to 31 March 2024, there were 76,890 unique visitors to the BiDT from 109 countries. Of 76,890 unique visitors to the BiDT during this period, 16,626 were engaged users as defined by Google Analytics (22%) from 80 countries. The highest number of unique engaged users were from Canada (n = 8124) with an engagement rate of 38%. From 5 March 2024 to 31 March 2024, 100 electronic surveys were completed by website users and included in the analysis. Website users indicated that the BiDT validated or increased their dementia care knowledge, beliefs, and activities (82%) and they reported that the website validated their current care approaches or increased their ability to provide care (78%). Further, 77% of respondents indicated that they intend to continue using the BiDT and 81.6% said that they would recommend it to others to review and adopt. Conclusions: The BiDT is a promising tool for sharing practical and evidence-informed information resources to support people experiencing dementia-related mood and behaviour changes. Early evaluation of the website has demonstrated significant reach and engagement with users in Canada and internationally. Survey data also demonstrated high ratings of website relevance, feasibility, intention to use, knowledge change, practice support, and its contribution to dementia guidance. Full article
