Background/Objectives:Hydrogels are highly hydrated, biocompatible polymer networks increasingly investigated as drug-delivery systems (DDS) for analgesics. Their ability to modulate local release, prolong drug residence time, and reduce systemic toxicity positions them as promising platforms in perioperative, chronic, and localized pain settings. This scoping review aimed to systematically map clinical applications, efficacy, and safety of hydrogel-based DDS for analgesics, while also documenting non-DDS uses where the matrix itself contributes to pain modulation through physical mechanisms. Methods: Following PRISMA-ScR guidance, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched without publication date restrictions. Only peer-reviewed clinical studies were included; preclinical studies and non-journal literature were excluded. Screening and selection were performed in duplicate. Data extracted included drug class, hydrogel technology, clinical setting, outcomes, and safety. Protocol was registered with Open Science Framework. Results: A total of 26 clinical studies evaluating hydrogel formulations as DDS for analgesics were included. Most were randomized controlled trials, spanning 1996–2024. Local anesthetics were the most frequent drug class, followed by opioids, corticosteroids, Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs), and neuromodulators. Application sites were predominantly topical/transdermal and perioperative/incisional. Across the DDS cohort, most of the studies reported improved analgesic outcomes, including reduced pain scores and lower rescue medication use; neutral or unclear results were rare. Safety reporting was limited, but tolerability was generally favorable. Additionally, 38 non-DDS studies demonstrated pain reduction through hydrogel-mediated cooling, lubrication, or barrier effects, particularly in burns, ocular surface disorders, and discogenic pain. Conclusions: Hydrogel-based DDS for analgesics show consistent clinical signals of benefit across diverse contexts, aligning with their mechanistic rationale. While current evidence supports their role as effective, well-tolerated platforms, translational gaps remain, particularly for hybrid nanotechnology systems and standardized safety reporting. Non-DDS applications confirm the intrinsic analgesic potential of hydrogel matrices, underscoring their relevance in multimodal pain management strategies. Full article

Nickel-based alloys, including Inconel 718 and alloy 625, are indispensable in industries such as aerospace, marine, and nuclear energy due to their exceptional mechanical strength, high-temperature performance, and corrosion resistance. However, these very properties pose severe machining challenges, such as accelerated tool wear, poor surface finish, and high cutting forces. Although several studies have investigated coatings, lubrication strategies, and process optimization, a comprehensive and up-to-date integration of these advancements is still lacking. To address this gap, a systematic review was conducted using Web of Science and Scopus databases. The inclusion criteria focused on peer-reviewed journal and conference articles published in the last eleven years (2014–2025), written in English, and directly addressing machining of nickel-based alloys, with particular emphasis on tool coatings, lubrication/cooling technologies, and machinability optimization. Exclusion criteria included duplicate records, non-English documents, papers lacking experimental or modeling results, and studies unrelated to tool life or coating performance. Following this screening process, 101 high-quality articles were selected for detailed analysis. The novelty of this work lies in synthesizing comparative insights across TiAlN, TiSiN, and CrAlSiN coatings, alongside advanced lubrication methods such as HPC, MQL, nano-MQL, and cryogenic cooling. Results highlight that CrAlSiN coatings retain hardness up to 36 ± 2 GPa after exposure to 700 °C and extend tool life by 4.2× compared to TiAlN, while optimized cooling strategies reduce flank wear by over 30% and improve tool longevity by up to 133%. The integration of coating performance, thermal stability, and lubrication effects into a unified framework provides actionable guidelines for machining optimization. The study concludes by proposing future research directions, including hybrid coatings, real-time process monitoring, and sustainable lubrication technologies, to bridge the remaining gaps in machinability and promote industrial adoption. This integrative approach establishes a robust foundation for advancing machining strategies of nickel-based superalloys, ensuring improved productivity, reduced costs, and enhanced component reliability. The cement industry accounts for approximately 7–8% of global CO2 emissions, primarily due to energy-intensive clinker production and limestone calcination. With cement demand continuing to rise, particularly in emerging economies, decarbonization has become an urgent global challenge. The objective of this study is to systematically map and synthesize existing evidence on technological pathways, policy measures, and economic barriers to four core decarbonization strategies: clinker substitution, energy efficiency, alternative fuels, as well as carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) in the cement sector, with the goal of identifying practical strategies that can align industry practice with long-term climate goals. A scoping review methodology was adopted, drawing on peer-reviewed journal articles, technical reports, and policy documents to ensure a comprehensive perspective. The results demonstrate that each mitigation pathway is technically feasible but faces substantial real-world constraints. Clinker substitution delivers immediate reduction but is limited by SCM availability/quality, durability qualification, and conservative codes; LC3 is promising where clay logistics allow. Energy-efficiency measures like waste-heat recovery and advanced controls reduce fuel use but face high capital expenditure, downtime, and diminishing returns in modern plants. Alternative fuels can reduce combustion-related emissions but face challenges of supply chains, technical integration challenges, quality, weak waste-management systems, and regulatory acceptance. CCUS, the most considerable long-term potential, addresses process CO2 and enables deep reductions, but remains commercially unviable due to current economics, high costs, limited policy support, lack of large-scale deployment, and access to transport and storage. Cross-cutting economic challenges, regulatory gaps, skill shortages, and social resistance including NIMBYism further slow adoption, particularly in low-income regions. This study concludes that a single pathway is insufficient. An integrated portfolio supported by modernized standards, targeted policy incentives, expanded access to SCMs and waste fuels, scaled CCUS investment, and international collaboration is essential to bridge the gap between climate ambition and industrial implementation. Key recommendations include modernizing cement standards to support higher clinker replacement, providing incentives for energy-efficient upgrades, scaling CCUS through joint investment and carbon pricing and expanding access to biomass and waste-derived fuels. Swarm Robotics (SR) is a relatively new field, inspired by the collective intelligence of social insects. It involves using local rules to control and coordinate large groups (swarms) of relatively simple physical robots. Important tasks that robot swarms can handle include demining, search, rescue, and cleaning up toxic spills. Over the past decade, the research effort in the field of Swarm Robotics has intensified significantly in terms of hardware, software, and systems integrated developments, yet significant challenges remain, particularly regarding standardization, scalability, and cost-effective deployment. To contextualize the state of Swarm Robotics technologies, this paper provides a systematic literature review (SLR) of Swarm Robotic technologies published from 2014 to 2024, with an emphasis on how hardware and software subsystems have co-evolved. This work provides an overview of 40 studies in peer-reviewed journals along with a well-defined and replicable systematic review protocol. The protocol describes criteria for including and excluding studies and outlines a data extraction approach. We explored trends in sensor hardware, actuation methods, communication devices, and energy systems, as well as an examination of software platforms to produce swarm behavior, covering meta-heuristic algorithms and generic middleware platforms such as ROS. Our results demonstrate how dependent hardware and software are to achieve Swarm Intelligence, the lack of uniform standards for their design, and the pragmatic limits which hinder scalability and deployment. We conclude by noting ongoing challenges and proposing future directions for developing interoperable, energy-efficient Swarm Robotics (SR) systems incorporating machine learning (ML). Full article

The increasing prevalence of Arabic text in digital media offers significant potential for sentiment analysis. However, challenges such as linguistic complexity and limited resources make Arabic sentiment analysis (ASA) particularly difficult. In addition, explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) has become crucial for improving the transparency and trustworthiness of artificial intelligence (AI) models. This paper addresses the integration of XAI techniques in ASA through a scoping review of developments. This study critically identifies trends in model usage, examines explainability methods, and explores how these techniques enhance the explainability of model decisions. This review is crucial for consolidating fragmented efforts, identifying key methodological trends, and guiding future research in this emerging area. Online databases (IEEE Xplore, ACM Digital Library, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar) were searched to identify papers published between 1 January 2016 and 31 March 2025. The last search across all databases was conducted on 1 April 2025. From these, 19 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers focusing on ASA with explicit use of XAI techniques were selected for inclusion. This time frame was chosen to capture the most recent decade of research, reflecting advances in deep learning and the transformer-based and explainable AI methods. The findings indicate that transformer-based models and deep learning approaches dominate in ASA, achieving high accuracy, and that local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME) is the most widely used explainability tool. However, challenges such as dialectal variation, small or imbalanced datasets, and the black box nature of advanced models persist. To address these challenges future research directions should include the creation of richer Arabic sentiment datasets, the development of hybrid explainability models, and the enhancement of adversarial robustness. Background: The widespread use of social media among children and adolescents has raised increasing concern about its potential impact on mental health. Given the unique neurodevelopmental vulnerabilities during adolescence, understanding how digital platforms influence psychiatric outcomes is critical. Objectives: This narrative review aims to synthesize current evidence on the relationship between social media exposure and key psychiatric symptoms in youth, including depression, anxiety, body image disturbances, suicidality, and emotional dysregulation. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive narrative review of the literature, drawing from longitudinal, cross-sectional, and neuroimaging studies published in peer-reviewed journals. Specific attention was given to moderators (e.g., age, gender, and personality traits) and mediators (e.g., sleep, emotion regulation, and family context) influencing the relationship between social media use and mental health outcomes. Results: Evidence indicates that certain patterns of social media use, especially passive or compulsive engagement, are associated with increased risk of depression, anxiety, body dissatisfaction, and suicidal ideation. Adolescent girls, younger users, and those with low self-esteem or poor emotional regulation are particularly vulnerable. Neuroimaging studies show that social media activates reward-related brain regions, which may reinforce problematic use. Family support and digital literacy appear to mitigate negative effects. Conclusions: Social media use is not uniformly harmful; its psychological impact depends on how, why, and by whom it is used. Multilevel prevention strategies, including media education, parental involvement, and responsible platform design, are essential to support healthy adolescent development in the digital age. The goal of this study is to estimate the amount of lost data in electron microscopy and to analyze the extent to which experimentally acquired images are utilized in peer-reviewed scientific publications. Analysis of the number of images taken on electron microscopes at a core user facility and the number of images subsequently included in peer-reviewed scientific journals revealed low efficiency of data utilization. Up to around 90% of electron microscopy data generated during routine instrument operation can remain unused. Of the more than 150,000 electron microscopy images evaluated in this study, only approximately 3500 (just over 2%) were made available in publications. For the analyzed dataset, the amount of lost data in electron microscopy can be estimated as >90% (in terms of data being recorded but not being published in peer-reviewed literature). On the one hand, these results highlight a shortcoming in the optimal use of microscopy images; on the other hand, they indicate the existence of a large pool of electron microscopy data that can facilitate research in data science and the development of AI-based projects. The considerations important to unlock the potential of lost data are discussed in the present article. Full article

Background and Objectives: Immediate implant placement in the esthetic zone presents challenges in maintaining peri-implant tissues due to post-extraction remodeling. Bone grafting has been proposed to support tissue preservation and improve esthetic outcomes. This article reviews the role of grafting in clinical studies and case reports. Materials and Methods: A literature search on PubMed and Google Scholar identified studies focusing on immediate implant placement with grafting. The search strategy included articles from 2012 to 2025, in English, from peer-reviewed journals. Results: Implant survival is possible without grafting in ideal cases, but grafting is often essential in patients with thin biotypes or esthetic demands. Technique and material selection are critical. The socket shield technique shows promise in preserving buccal tissues despite its complexity. Case reports demonstrated stable soft tissues and favorable esthetic outcomes. Conclusions: Grafting should be tailored to the clinical situation. While not always necessary, it is often crucial in compromised sites to ensure long-term esthetic success. Current literature supports predictable outcomes with appropriate grafting protocols. Digital transformation (DT) is rapidly reshaping education at multiple levels, including curriculum, instructional practices, and institutional culture. Within this context, entrepreneurship education has become a key field for preparing individuals to navigate uncertainty and generate social and economic value in a digital society. Entrepreneurial competencies are increasingly conceptualized as a multidimensional construct that encompasses creativity, problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy. This study aims to identify core entrepreneurial competencies relevant to the digital era and examine how technology-integrated instructional strategies contribute to their development. A systematic literature review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines, analyzing 72 peer-reviewed journal articles published between January 2021 and June 2025. The findings indicate that DT drives structural changes in education beyond tool adoption, with technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, and digital collaboration platforms serving as catalysts for innovative thinking and entrepreneurial behavior. These technologies are not merely supportive tools but are embedded in competency-based learning processes. This review provides a comprehensive competency framework integrating three domains, AI-collaborative pedagogy validation, and implementation strategies, enabling educators, curriculum developers, and policymakers to redesign entrepreneurship education that aligns with the realities of digital learning environments and fosters future-ready entrepreneurial capabilities. This conceptual framework theoretically systematizes the integration of innovative thinking and ethical execution capabilities required in the digital era, contributing to defining the future direction of entrepreneurship education. Machine learning (ML) is reshaping how environmental chemicals are monitored and how their hazards are evaluated for human health. Here, we mapped this landscape by analyzing 3150 peer-reviewed articles (1985–2025) from the Web of Science Core Collection. Co-citation, co-occurrence, and temporal trend analyses in VOSviewer and R reveal an exponential publication surge from 2015, dominated by environmental science journals, with China and the United States leading in output. Eight thematic clusters emerged, centered on ML model development, water quality prediction, quantitative structure–activity applications, and per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances, with XGBoost and random forests as the most cited algorithms. A distinct risk assessment cluster indicates migration of these tools toward dose–response and regulatory applications, yet keyword frequencies show a 4:1 bias toward environmental endpoints over human health endpoints. Emerging topics include climate change, microplastics, and digital soil mapping, while lignin, arsenic, and phthalates appear as fast-growing but understudied chemicals. Our findings expose gaps in chemical coverage and health integration. We recommend expanding the substance portfolio, systematically coupling ML outputs with human health data, adopting explainable artificial intelligence workflows, and fostering international collaboration to translate ML advances into actionable chemical risk assessments. Bridges play an increasingly indispensable role in endorsing the economic and social development of societies by linking highways and facilitating the mobility of people and goods. Concurrently, they are susceptible to high traffic volumes and an intricate service environment over their lifespans, resulting in undergoing a progressive deterioration process. Hence, efficient measures of maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation planning are critical to boost the performance condition, safety, and structural integrity of bridges while evading less costly interventions. To this end, this research paper furnishes a mixed review method, comprising systematic literature and scientometric reviews, for the meticulous examination and analysis of the existing research work in relation with maintenance fund allocation models of bridges (BriMai_all). With that in mind, Scopus and Web of Science databases are harnessed collectively to retrieve peer-reviewed journal articles on the subject, culminating in 380 indexed journal articles over the study period (1990–2025). In this respect, VOSviewer and Bibliometrix R package are utilized to create a visualization network of the literature database, covering keyword co-occurrence analysis, country co-authorship analysis, institution co-authorship analysis, journal co-citation analysis, journal co-citation, core journal analysis, and temporal trends. Subsequently, a rigorous systematic literature review is rendered to synthesize the adopted tools and prominent trends of the relevant state of the art. Particularly, the conducted multi-dimensional review examines the six dominant methodical paradigms of bridge maintenance management: (1) multi-criteria decision making, (2) life cycle assessment, (3) digital twins, (4) inspection planning, (5) artificial intelligence, and (6) optimization. It can be argued that this research paper could assist asset managers with a practical guide and a protocol to plan maintenance expenditures and implement sustainable practices for bridges under deterioration. Data from 179 eligible publications were analyzed with VOSviewer and Microsoft Power BI, applying performance metrics and network mapping techniques, including co-authorship, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, and keyword co-occurrence analyses. Results: Publication output increased steadily over the decade, with leading contributions from the Journal of Neuro-Oncology, Psycho-Oncology, and Brain Imaging and Behavior. Co-citation analysis identified three core intellectual pillars: (i) clinical characterization of cancer-related cognitive impairment, (ii) mechanistic and neuroimaging-based investigations, and (iii) neurosurgical and neuropathological research in brain tumors. Keyword mapping revealed emerging themes in sleep and circadian rhythm research, biological contributors to cognitive decline, and scalable rehabilitation strategies such as web-based cognitive training. Collaborative networks, while showing dense local clusters, remained moderately fragmented across disciplines. Conclusions: This review provides the first quantitative, decade-spanning map of cognitive oncology research, highlighting both consolidated knowledge areas and underexplored domains. Future efforts should prioritize methodological standardization, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and integration of cognitive endpoints into survivorship care, with the ultimate aim of improving functional outcomes and quality of life for cancer survivors.
