This study addresses the multi-objective optimization of characterizing a flat glass processing plant. To assess the operational conditions required for a flat glass processing small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) to become a prosumer compatible with renewable energy community (REC) participation. This work is motivated by the presence of more than 300 SMEs in Italy, like this, where RECs represent one of the few viable strategies for achieving the European Union’s 2050 decarbonization targets. The research is carried out in two scenarios; Scenario-I includes Stage-i and Stage-ii with the mutual goal of forecasting and optimizing. Forecasting is used in Stage-i to optimize the factory load, and in Stage-ii to shift and curtail energy loads based on the forecast, considering the Italian national energy price and the regional price bands (“fasce orarie”) F1, F2, and F3. Forecasting and the indicators of environmental and social performance are the means to ensure the best energy utilization and management, as they prove that the reduction in CO2 emissions and benefits on the community level can be both obtainable. Subsequently, the techno-economic analysis and evaluation of prosumer-readiness conditions are carried out through the optimization of industrial energy demand: three optimization objectives are assessed in this study (i) energy cost, (ii) carbon emission, and (iii) load curtailment. Four algorithms are put into effect to solve the tri-objective optimization: multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO), multi-objective ant nesting algorithm (MOANA), non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II), and multi-objective grey wolf optimization (MOGWO). The algorithms are validated in Stage-ii to find the desired optimum in the cost of energy, reduce peak formation, and carbon emissions. To achieve this goal, a stochastic approach based on Monte Carlo simulations and VIKOR is used to optimally select the results. The findings show that the NSGA-II, MOPSO, and MOANA are more effective in solving the problem, while the MOGWO algorithm more quickly finds the optimal solution. Based on the defined objectives, a new configuration for the energy community is introduced, together with a community well-being index and an evaluation of the resulting benefits for the factory. In Scenario-II, the PV plants’ installation on the factory is sized, and the excess energy shared with the grid is evaluated. The Scenario-II results show that 497.184 MWh (33.9%) of energy is shared with the grid. Both results suggest how optimized industrial demand profiles improve SME participation in future RECs. Photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) is a highly sensitive and non-destructive technique widely used for trace gas detection; however, the simultaneous quantification of methane (CH4), ethane (C2H6), and ethylene (C2H4) remains challenging due to severe spectral cross-interference and non-linear responses across broad concentration ranges. In this work, we propose a high-precision, end-to-end detection framework based on a Deep Kernel Extreme Learning Machine (DKELM) optimized using a Mutation–Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization (MCPSO) algorithm. To enhance diagnostic information in the photoacoustic signals, a multi-scale wavelet transform based on a db4 wavelet basis with 5-layer decomposition and a Heursure soft threshold strategy is first employed for denoising and enhancing absorption features. To address the hyperparameter sensitivity and local-optimum trapping inherent in deep models, the MCPSO algorithm integrates hybrid chaotic initialization, adaptive mutation probability control, Cauchy-based perturbation, temperature-controlled mutation amplitude, and elite-guided population updating. The proposed MCPSO-DKELM model is evaluated on an expanded dataset of 470 mixed-gas spectra and benchmarked against other frameworks, including the previously reported SVM-CPSO-KELM architecture. The experimental results demonstrate that MCPSO-DKELM achieves stable, segmentation-free quantification across the full dynamic range, with an average detection error below 3.5% and the maximum relative error constrained to under 15%, which represents a substantial improvement over existing approaches. Thus, the combination of deep kernel feature extraction and mutation–chaotic global optimization provides a robust and reliable solution for simultaneous multi-component hydrocarbon gas analysis in complex industrial environments. PM2.5 is a major air pollutant that threatens urban air quality and public health. Its concentration is influenced by both meteorological conditions and air pollutants, exhibiting complex nonlinear and temporal characteristics. Traditional statistical methods are limited in their ability to model complex relationships among environmental variables, while machine learning models still require improvements in hyperparameter optimization and interpretability. Therefore, developing an accurate and interpretable PM2.5 estimation model remains an important research objective. This study used daily air-quality and meteorological data collected in Wuhan from 2016 to 2025 to develop six machine learning models: Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), XGBoost, LightGBM, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Multilayer Perceptron (MLP). The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was employed to optimize the hyperparameters of these models. By comparing the root mean square error (RMSE), coefficient of determination (R2), and mean absolute error (MAE) of each model on both the training and test sets, the PSO-MLP model was identified as the best-performing model. Furthermore, the Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) method was applied to perform both global and local interpretation analyses of the best-performing model. The results indicate that the PSO-MLP model achieved the highest estimation performance among all evaluated models, with an R2 value of 0.746 on the test set. SHAP analysis revealed that CO, Temperature (Temp), and NO2 were the most influential predictors, while all variables exhibited distinct nonlinear relationships with PM2.5 concentration. These findings may contribute to PM2.5 concentration estimation, air-quality management, and environmental decision-making. Full article

Three-dimensional UAV operations require path planning methods that can jointly maintain route efficiency, threat avoidance, and trajectory smoothness under spatially distributed and time-varying constraints. To address this problem, this paper develops an integrated Dual-Layer Adaptive T-perturbation and Opposition-based Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization framework, termed DATO-MOPSO, for 3D UAV path planning in complex threat environments. The method integrates a dual-layer adaptive inertia-weight and velocity-regulation mechanism with symmetric T-perturbation, an elite quasi-opposition-based learning strategy for diversity recovery and feasible local exploitation, and an archive-driven simulated annealing rule for stagnation-aware personal-best updating. A three-objective model minimizing path length, threat exposure, and path smoothness is established, and comparative experiments against MOPSO, ZAMOPSO, NSGA-II, and SPEA2 are conducted in both static and dynamic environments, together with statistical and ablation analyses. In the static scenario, DATO-MOPSO achieved the highest mean HV and stable repeated-run performance, but its IGD was comparable to ZAMOPSO with higher computational cost. In the dynamic scenario, DATO-MOPSO showed its main advantage, achieving the highest mean HV and the lowest mean IGD with statistically significant HV and IGD improvements over all baselines. Overall, DATO-MOPSO is most advantageous in time-varying complex threat environments, whereas its static-scenario advantages are accompanied by higher computational cost. Full article

Two reconstruction methods for constraint and load parameters of aero-engine pipelines based on intelligent optimization algorithms are proposed in this paper. First, a simplified finite element model (FEM) of the aero-engine pipeline structure is established, and its reliability is validated by comparing simulation data with experimental data. Second, a reconstruction algorithm for spring constraint parameters and pipeline load parameters based on the improved particle swarm optimization (IPSO) algorithm is developed on the MATLAB data analysis and ANSYS simulation platforms, which completes the reconstruction calculation of parameters such as spring constraint stiffness and applied harmonic excitation. For harmonic excitation parameter reconstruction, the maximum error of this algorithm reaches 24.9%, revealing its significant inapplicability to load parameter reconstruction. To solve this problem, a load reconstruction method based on the conjugate gradient method (CGM) is further proposed to achieve accurate reconstruction of pipeline load parameters, which mitigates the large reconstruction error of the IPSO algorithm under working conditions with multiple loads. Under 5% noise interference, the maximum error of the CGM is merely 5.16%. Finally, experimental verification of harmonic excitation amplitude reconstruction is performed using the CGM with lower reconstruction errors. Experimental results indicate that the maximum error is 14.24% for harmonic excitation amplitude reconstruction, which verifies the high applicability of the conjugate gradient algorithm to load reconstruction of aero-engine pipelines. Offshore wind energy offers abundant resources and significant potential for large-scale development. Efficient design of collection systems is critical to the economic viability of offshore wind farms (OWFs). This study proposes an upper–lower level topology optimization framework based on the Artificial Lemming Algorithm (ALA) to address the complexity arising from large numbers of wind turbines (WTs). At the upper level, wind turbines can be partitioned into different numbers of regions according to practical engineering requirements using the Radial Fuzzy C-Means (RFCM) clustering algorithm. At the lower level, the ALA is applied to optimize the collection system topology within each region, aiming to minimize total construction cost while satisfying operational constraints. A case study involving a 75-WT offshore wind farm is conducted. Comparative simulations against various heuristic algorithms including Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Differential Evolution (DE) show that the proposed method achieves faster convergence, lower total costs and greater robustness. Specifically, the ALA reduces the best cost by 9.9% and improves average runtime by 28.5%, indicating its advantages in best-cost search and computational efficiency in the tested case. In addition, based on 10 independent runs, the ALA achieves the lowest median cost of 6684×104 CNY, with an interquartile range of 6593–6813×104 CNY and a cost range of 6362–7087×104 CNY. Overall, the proposed framework provides a practical optimization approach for obtaining low-cost feasible collection-system layouts in the studied offshore wind farm case. Full article

To address the non-stationary and non-linear characteristics of vibration signals collected by sensors in pumped-storage units, as well as their susceptibility to strong background noise interference, this paper proposes a joint signal denoising method combining parameter-adaptive Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) and wavelet thresholding. First, the Improved Particle Swarm Optimization (IPSO) algorithm is utilized to adaptively optimize the key parameters of VMD using a comprehensive fitness function as the objective, thereby achieving the optimal decomposition of the signal. Subsequently, a cross-correlation analysis method is introduced to screen the decomposed components, followed by a secondary denoising process using a wavelet threshold to accomplish the final signal denoising. Experimental validations using simulated run-out signals and field-measured sensor data from a pumped-storage power station, along with comparisons against other methods, demonstrate that the proposed method can eliminate noise more effectively. It significantly improves the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and reduces the root mean square error (RMSE). Consequently, this study provides a reliable data foundation for the subsequent research and analysis of the units, demonstrating substantial practical engineering significance. Full article

The large-scale integration of electric vehicles (EVs) has made the siting and sizing of electric vehicle-charging stations (EVCSs) a critical challenge in distribution systems, as inadequate deployment may compromise secure network operation due to voltage and thermal limit violations. This problem is formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model, where discrete variables define EVCS locations and charging capacities expressed in terms of the number of EVs served. To address this problem, this paper proposes a unified parallel AC-feasible optimization framework that maximizes EV hosting capacity while explicitly enforcing all operational constraints of the distribution system. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), a Population-based Continuous Genetic Algorithm (PGA), and Monte Carlo (MC) optimization are evaluated under a common decision-variable encoding, objective function, AC power-flow evaluator, and constraint-handling strategy, enabling a fair comparison among methodologies under identical operating conditions. The proposed framework is assessed on a modified 33-bus distribution system considering a representative weekly operating scenario and 100 independent runs. Results show that PSO achieves the highest hosting capacity, integrating up to 1246 EVs and an average of 1213.3 EVs, compared with 1225 and 1196.1 EVs for PGA and 1077 and 1049.4 EVs for MC, respectively. All methodologies exhibit standard deviations below 3%, confirming robust and repeatable performance, while requiring less than 1428 s on average to identify feasible planning solutions. In addition, the parallel implementation reduces computational times by 42.22%. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed framework for identifying high-capacity EVCS planning solutions while preserving secure network operation. Full article

This paper investigates the problem of multi-target search by an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) swarm in unknown three-dimensional (3D) underwater environments with obstacles under limited communication conditions. To address this problem, a distributed cooperative search framework is proposed. Within this framework, an adaptive dual-state search mechanism driven by a target response function is designed. This mechanism enables the swarm to transition between independent large-scale roaming search and precise cooperative search. On this basis, a multi-target search method is developed by integrating a virtual force model, motion-constrained 3D Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and a sectional 3D tangent-plane obstacle-avoidance method. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and engineering feasibility of the proposed framework. Under the conditions of unknown terrains and communication limits, the AUV swarm can adaptively execute state transitions, safely avoid 3D obstacles, and complete multi-target search tasks. Specifically, as the swarm size increases from 30 to 60 AUVs, the mean number of iterations drops from 432.97 to 269.73, while the total energy consumption expectedly rises from 11.79 × 104 to 15.51 × 104, reflecting a well-balanced trade-off between efficiency and cost. This study provides a practical distributed control reference for AUV swarms in complex communication-constrained underwater scenarios. Full article

Systematic logistics plays a key role in fostering profitable development in supply chains. An intelligent logistics model can help create a more agile, sustainable, and resilient supply chain. In recent years, several brain-inspired deep learning architectures, such as long short-term memory networks, graph neural networks, and convolutional neural networks, have been introduced for intelligent decision-making tasks. From a biomimetic perspective, these models are inspired by biological information-processing mechanisms. Convolutional neural networks reflect hierarchical procedures similar to those in the visual cortex, graph neural networks mimic communication among biological neurons, and LSTM networks are motivated by short-term and long-term memory mechanisms in the brain. Inspired by these biomimetic computational principles, this study proposes a novel hybrid deep learning strategy composed of LSTM, convolutional layers and GraphSAGE geometric layers for smart supply chain logistics management. This strategy enables leveraging information pertaining to LSTM-based long-term dependencies, convolutional local patterns and graph-related hidden connections of the supply chain dataset for intelligent decision-making. The GraphSAGE framework helps with scalable graph learning, which enhances predictive accuracy in the case of unseen data. The optimizer in the proposed methodology performs sequential optimization using the biomimetic particle swarm optimizer and the Adam approach (PSO-Adam), considering the hybrid cost function. The prediction of logistics parameters is investigated using five datasets, including DataCo, Shipping, Smart Logistics, Hospital Supply Chain, and Pharmaceutical Supply Chain. The average accuracies of 97.8%, 100%, 96.6%, 98.7% and 99.4% are obtained for practical multi-category logistics parameter forecasts. The evaluation metrics for ten logistics predictions confirm the effectiveness of the proposed intelligent logistics model and highlight the potential of biomimetic geometric networks for complex supply chain decision-making. The model is a cost-efficient approach with consideration of the prediction capabilities, helping to reduce the occurrence of logistics risks, increase the productivity of the supply chain and affect the supply chain visibility, customer satisfaction, and industry reputation. This paper addresses the bidirectional multi-chamber lock scheduling problem by formulating a multi-objective mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model that simultaneously minimizes average ship waiting time and maximizes chamber utilization. A tailored adaptive large neighborhood search (ALNS) algorithm is developed specifically based on the principle of the destruction and reconstruction of solutions. The algorithm efficacy is validated using the real-word data from Huai’an Lock of the Subei canal. The scheduling rules and parameters are defined from practical operation records. Simulation results demonstrate that the ALNS-based optimization significantly improves lock performance with average chamber utilization increasing by 12.98% and waiting time decreasing by 44.40%. Sensitivity analyses on objective weights further confirm the robustness of the proposed method. Benchmark comparisons with a greedy heuristic, genetic algorithm (GA), and particle swarm optimization (PSO) highlight the effectiveness and computational efficiency of ALNS. This study further explores a threshold-based directional control strategy, showing that relaxing strict alternating-direction rules under asymmetric traffic demand can improve efficiency. The findings provide practical insights for lock scheduling, offering decision support for lock authorities in designing adaptive scheduling and directional control policies. Full article

In the context of an increasingly complex and dynamic digital ecosystem, accurately assessing the value of Specialized, Refined, Differentiated, and Innovative (SRDI) enterprises is crucial for making effective decisions. Traditional valuation methods struggle to effectively address issues such as the high R&D expenditures and significant operational risks associated with these enterprises. This study proposes an interpretable intelligent decision-support framework for valuing SRDI enterprises listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE), constructing a multidimensional indicator system that encompasses solvency, profitability, and R&D capabilities. Feature importance screening using the XGBoost algorithm was conducted to identify key indicators as input variables for a backpropagation (BP) neural network. Concurrently, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm was applied to the neural network to optimize initial weights and thresholds, thereby modeling nonlinear valuation relationships. Empirical analysis of 770 SRDI firms listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange from 2020 to 2024 indicates that the XGBoost-PSO-BPNN model achieved a coefficient of determination of 0.8083 on the test set, outperforming traditional linear models and benchmark models such as single-tree models. SHAP explainability analysis further reveals that current asset turnover, return on assets, and equity concentration are the primary value drivers. This study employs various clustering methods to further classify enterprises into three categories and proposes recommendations for differentiated regulatory policies, providing intelligent decision support for enterprises operating within complex digital ecosystems. Rural electrification in Sub-Saharan Africa faces a trilemma: cutting carbon emissions, making it economically viable, and achieving fair access to energy for all. This paper develops a multi-objective framework that optimises carbon revenue, net present value (NPV), total energy supply, cooking fuel (firewood and LPG), health costs, and benefit to society. The model uses continuous decision variables: daily energy allocation among four sources (solar, generator, firewood, LPG) to three population groups (men, women, children). The case study is a rural community of 7000 people in Nigeria (Tier 1 energy consumers). Six policy scenarios are considered: baseline, high carbon price, low carbon price, microfinance, government subsidy and community cooperative. This study compared algorithms and identified a hybrid Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimisation II as the most suitable algorithm for solving the formulated optimisation problem. It was found that NPV and unit cost of energy would increase to $175,500 and 26.4 ¢/kWh, respectively, by increasing the price of carbon from $8/ton to $12/ton. Firewood generates health savings and carbon revenue in the range of $4100–$12,270/year. Prices below $8/ton do not induce optimal reconfigurations in the system. The best energy supply (2825 kWh/day) and the lowest unsatisfied demand occur in the government subsidy scenario with the greatest disparity index, displaying an equity-efficiency trade-off. The framework shows that sustainable access to energy can be unlocked using strategic integration of carbon finance, valuation of health benefits and equity constraints. Full article

Directly coupled electrodynamic vibrators are widely used in vibration testing due to their ability to generate large propulsive forces. However, increasing the propulsive force typically requires higher driving currents, which leads to significant electrical heat generation and thermal management challenges in the armature coil. To address this issue, this study proposes a multi-objective parameter optimization framework for the design of armature coils in high-propulsive-force electrodynamic vibration tables. Two optimization objectives are formulated based on electromagnetic and thermal considerations: minimization of electrical heat generation in the armature coil; and improvement in cooling capability, characterized by the ratio between the cooling water channel area and the conductive cross-sectional area. The key geometric parameters of the coil, including winding configuration and cross-sectional dimensions, are treated as design variables. The resulting multi-objective optimization problem is solved using a multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithm to obtain a set of Pareto-optimal solutions that balance the two competing thermal objectives. The present work focuses on the pre-design-stage optimization of the armature coil after the rated propulsive force and geometric envelope of the vibrator have been specified. A representative high-propulsive-force electrodynamic vibrator is analyzed as a case study. Finite element thermal simulations show that the selected Pareto-optimal design reduces the peak armature-coil temperature by approximately 9.7–36.6% compared with the other investigated coil configurations under the same propulsive force condition. The proposed method provides an efficient approach for the thermally constrained parameter design of high-power electrodynamic vibrator armature coils. Full article
