This study examines how language functions impact linguistic features in academic and entertainment registers. Using multi-dimensional analysis (MDA) and computing entropy values, we analyze a large-scale Chinese corpus consisting of over 19 million tokens from 1000 texts, including academic journals, dissertations, entertainment magazines, and novellas. We identify key language functions that shape linguistic features within these registers. Our results reveal five core dimensions of linguistic functional variation, narrative versus rational discourse, modification, reference, uncertainty, and prudence, which account for over 52% of the variance in language use. Certain linguistic features systematically co-occur in each dimension, forming language functions that underpin broader social networks. Entropy values further confirm the findings of multi-dimensional analysis. This study emphasizes the associations between linguistic features and language functions, offering a theoretical perspective for understanding how language functions impact linguistic features and shape different registers. The findings suggest a language variation perspective on social networks’ communication. Full article

In 2022, the Russia–Ukraine conflict has severely impacted the EU’s energy supply chain, and the EU’s natural gas import pattern has begun to reconstruct, and exploring the spatiotemporal differentiation of EU natural gas trade and its driving factors is the basis for improving the resilience of its supply chain and ensuring the stable supply of energy resources. This paper summarizes the law of the change of its import volume by using the complex network method, constructs a multi-dimensional index system such as demand, economy, and security, and uses the geographic detector model to mine the driving factors affecting the spatiotemporal evolution of natural gas imports in EU countries and propose different sustainable development paths. The results show that from 2000 to 2023, Europe’s natural gas imports generally show an upward trend, and the import structure has undergone great changes, from pipeline gas dominance to LNG diversification. After the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the number of import source countries has increased, the market network has become looser, France has become the core hub of the EU natural gas market, the importance of Russia has declined rapidly, and the status of countries in the United States, North Africa, and the Middle East has increased rapidly; natural gas consumption is the leading factor in the spatiotemporal differentiation of EU natural gas imports, and the influence of import distance and geopolitical risk is gradually expanding, and the proportion of energy consumption is significantly higher than that of other factors in the interaction with other factors. Combined with the driving factors, three different evolutionary directions of natural gas imports in EU countries are identified, and energy security paths such as improving supply chain control capabilities, ensuring export stability, and using location advantages to become hub nodes are proposed for different development trends. Multiple Effects of Land Transfer on Rural Revitalization: A Meta-Analysis of Chinese Cases

Rural revitalization, as a crucial strategic goal for rural development in contemporary China, encompasses multidimensional connotations and requirements. Following the establishment of the ‘three rights separation’ system in 2014, land transfer has increasingly assumed a vital role, demonstrating a close and complex intrinsic logical relationship with rural revitalization. To comprehensively analyze the diverse impacts of land transfer on rural revitalization as discussed in the literature, we employ a ‘goal–strategy–indicator–outcome’ analytical framework to conduct a meta-analysis and visual assessment of 131 cases drawn from 52 articles published over the past decade. We systematically explore the pathways by which land transfer impacts rural revitalization and validate the results using typical cases reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs through Python 3.9 analysis. The findings reveal the following: (1) Land transfer generally exerts a positive impact on rural revitalization (81.7% of 107 cases). (2) It significantly boosts living standards (84% positive cases) and industrial prosperity (88.4% positive cases); rural cultural civilization shows 100% positive cases yet with statistically insignificant coefficients, while its impacts on ecological livability (60%) and effective governance (70.6%) are insignificant. (3) Among 12 indicators, those related to agricultural production and farmers’ livelihoods are positive, whereas those concerning rural ecology and governance are negative. This study indicates that land transfer plays a key role in the rural revitalization strategy, but the ecological impacts and governance challenges that it presents require ongoing attention and optimization at the policy level. Children living with chronic diseases represent a great challenge for the health care system, their families, and communities. These young patients face continuous medical needs that affect not only their health but also their daily routines, emotional well-being, and family dynamics. In response, clinical practice is increasingly integrating psychosocial indicators alongside traditional medical parameters. Consequently, there is a growing consensus that the evaluation of pediatric chronic diseases should address not only clinical dimensions but also the disease’s impact on socialization, emotional health, and daily functioning. This narrative review explores the role of psychosocial variables in the management of pediatric chronic illnesses, including the experiences of parents and siblings, with a focus on effective strategies to improve everyday life. The integration of quality of life and well-being within a multidimensional care model could be instrumental in both symptom management and psychosocial support. Recognizing that children with chronic conditions are at increased risk for long-term adverse outcomes, it is critical to develop interventions that go beyond clinical care, encompassing education, coping reinforcement, and family-centered approaches. In order to fulfil SDG 13—taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impact—SDG 2—ending hunger and poverty—and the African Union CAADP Strategy and Action Plan: 2026–2035, which’s goal is ending hunger and intensifying sustainable food production, agro-industrialisation, and trade, the resilience of commercial livestock farmers to agricultural droughts needs to be enhanced. Agricultural drought has affected the economies of many sub-Saharan African countries, including South Africa, and still poses a challenge to commercial livestock farming. This study identifies and determines the factors affecting commercial livestock farmers’ level of resilience to agricultural drought. Primary data from 123 commercial livestock farmers was used in a principal component analysis to estimate the agricultural drought resilience index as an outcome variable, and the probit model was used to determine the factors influencing the resilience of commercial livestock farmers in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. This study provides a valuable contribution towards resilience-building strategies that are critical for sustaining commercial livestock farming in arid regions by developing a formula for calculating the Agricultural Drought Resilience Index for commercial livestock farmers, significantly contributing to the pool of knowledge. The results showed that 67% of commercial livestock farming households were not resilient to agricultural drought, while 33% were resilient. Reliance on sustainable natural water resources, participation in social networks, education, relative support, increasing livestock numbers, and income stability influence the resilience of commercial livestock farmers. It underscores the importance of multidimensional policy interventions to enhance farmer drought resilience through education and livelihood diversification. Full article

The Retabit platform is a data-driven tool designed to bridge the gap between building rehabilitation and urban regeneration by integrating energy, economic, and social dimensions into a single framework. Leveraging multiple public data sources, the platform provides actionable insights to local and national authorities, public housing agencies, urban planners, energy service providers, and research institutions, helping to align renovation initiatives with broader urban transformation goals and climate action objectives. The platform consists of two main components: Analyse, for examining building conditions through multidimensional indicators, and Plan, for designing and simulating renovation projects. Retabit contributes to more transparent and informed decision-making, encourages collaboration across sectors, and addresses long-term sustainability by incorporating participatory planning and impact evaluation. Its scalable structure makes it applicable across diverse geographic areas, policy contexts, and domains linked to sustainable urban development. Full article

This paper examines the moderating role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on the relationship between environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions and investor decision-making in Jordan. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire designed for institutional investors and financial analysts, capturing perceptions of ESG, CSR, and investment behavior. A stratified random sample of 350 professionals across the financial, industrial, and service sectors was surveyed. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The findings show that environmental and social dimensions have positive effects on investor decisions, with governance dimensions having a negative effect. Notably, CSR has a negative moderating effect on the governance dimensions and investor decision, with no observed statistical moderating effect for environmental or social dimensions. This research unravels the multidimensional role of CSR in building the ESG-investor decision interface and identifies a counterintuitive negative moderating impact of CSR on governance, contributing to the existing literature on sustainability alignment in emerging markets. The results offer practical implications for companies aiming to attract sustainability-oriented investors by indicating the necessity for an integrated and genuine CSR and ESG approach. Full article

Chemometrics has emerged as a powerful approach for deciphering complex environmental systems, enabling the identification of pollution sources through the integration of faunal community structures with physicochemical parameters and in situ analytical data. Leveraging advanced technologies—including satellite imaging, drone surveillance, sensor networks, and Internet of Things platforms—chemometric methods facilitate real-time and longitudinal monitoring of both pristine and anthropogenically influenced ecosystems. This review provides a critical and comprehensive overview of the foundational principles underpinning chemometric applications in environmental science. Emphasis is placed on identifying pollution sources, their ecological distribution, and potential impacts on human health. Furthermore, the study highlights the role of chemometrics in interpreting multidimensional datasets, thereby enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of modern environmental monitoring systems across diverse geographic and industrial contexts. A comparative analysis of analytical techniques, target analytes, application domains, and the strengths and limitations of selected in situ and remote sensing-based chemometric approaches is also presented. Background and Objectives: Caring for an individual with dementia encompasses many challenges. This can lead to increased burden, anxiety, and mental health issues among those taking care of them. Limited research exists investigating the care of people with dementia in Kuwait, particularly regarding the mental health of caregivers. There is a need to understand the impact of caregiver burden in this population. This study aimed to assess the level of burden of care, depression, anxiety, and well-being among caregivers of the elderly with dementia in Kuwait. Methods: This study used a descriptive and cross-sectional design. To measure the burden of care, depression, anxiety, and well-being of the caregivers, we utilized the Zarit Burden Interview, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the World Health Organization-Five Well-Being Index. A sensitivity analysis was conducted to compare the results of the parametric and non-parametric methods. Results: This study included 180 (65%) caregivers for the elderly with dementia and 98 (35%) without dementia. The descriptive statistics showed that caregivers for the elderly with dementia and caregivers for the elderly without dementia experienced moderate burden (17.21 ± 9.09 and 14.51 ± 8.08, respectively), borderline abnormal anxiety (9.92 ± 5.15 and 8.61 ± 4.79, respectively), borderline abnormal depression (8.69 ± 4.35 and 8.06 ± 4.24, respectively), and low mental health well-being (54.40 ± 25.10 and 58.90 ± 23.42, respectively). The t-test of independent samples and Mann–Whitney U test results showed that the burden and anxiety in the caregivers for the elderly with dementia group were statistically significantly higher than those in the caregivers for the elderly without dementia group (p = 0.015 and p = 0.039; p = 0.026 and p = 0.027, respectively). The ANOVA test and Kruskal–Wallis test revealed that the caregivers for the elderly with dementia group had statistically significant differences in burden (p < 0.001; p < 0.001), anxiety (p = 0.048; p = 0.043), depression (p = 0.017; p = 0.009), and mental health well-being (p = 0.001; p = 0.002) scores across various durations of care. The multiple linear regression showed that caregiving was a significant predictor of burden of care and anxiety, indicating that caregivers of the elderly with dementia experienced a higher burden of care than those caring for the elderly without dementia. In addition, confounders with significant influence were duration of care (p < 0.001), education level (p = 0.002), employment status (p = 0.008), and gender (p = 0.02). Conclusions: Family caregivers experienced significant levels of burden of care and anxiety when caring for the elderly with dementia. A multidimensional holistic approach is needed to provide family caregivers of the elderly with dementia with valuable interventions. Full article

The building sector remains one of the largest contributors to global energy consumption and CO2 emissions, yet selecting optimal retrofit strategies is often hindered by inconsistent evaluation practices and limited integration of environmental and social impacts. This review addresses that gap by systematically analyzing how various assessment methods are applied to building retrofits, particularly from a financial and environmental perspective. A structured literature review was conducted across four major scientific databases using predefined keywords, filters, and inclusion/exclusion criteria, resulting in a final sample of 50 studies (green colored citations of this paper). The review focuses on the application of Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), Cost–Benefit Analysis (CBA), and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), as well as additional indicators that quantify energy and sustainability performance. Results show that LCCA is the most frequently used method, applied in over 60% of the studies, often in combination with LCA (particularly for long time horizons). CBA appears in fewer than 25% of cases. More than 50% of studies are based in Europe, and over 60% of case studies involve residential buildings. EnergyPlus and DesignBuilder were the most common simulation tools, used in 28% and 16% of the cases, respectively. Risk and uncertainty were typically addressed through Monte Carlo simulations (22%) and sensitivity analysis. Comfort and social impact indicators were underrepresented, with thermal comfort included in only 12% of studies and no formal use of tools like Social-LCA or SROI. The findings highlight the growing sophistication of retrofit assessments post-2020, but also reveal gaps such as geographic imbalance (absence of African case studies), inconsistent treatment of discount rates, and limited integration of social indicators. The study concludes that future research should develop standardized, multidimensional evaluation frameworks that incorporate social equity, stakeholder values, and long-term resilience alongside cost and carbon metrics. Background/Objectives: Young female cancer survivors often face specific informational needs related to the physical and emotional effects of cancer and its impact on life plans, particularly fertility and parenthood. However, few tools are tailored to assess these needs during this critical life stage. This study aimed to (i) validate a multidimensional measure—the Satisfaction with Information Provided to Young Oncology Patients Scale (SIPYF-CPS)—to assess the specific informational needs of young adult female cancer survivors; and (ii) explore preferences regarding the provision of information and counseling. Methods: A total of 124 women (M[age] = 38.18; SD = 5.49; range 21–45), 76.6% diagnosed with breast cancer, participated in the study. Psychometric analyses included exploratory factor analysis and correlation coefficients to assess reliability and construct validity. Convergent validity was evaluated through standardized measures of anxiety, reproductive concerns, and quality of life. Results: A final 22-item measure demonstrated strong reliability and validity, capturing four factors: (i) Disease-Related Information, (ii) Symptoms and Functional Limitations, (iii) Implications for Fertility and Parenthood, and (iv) Support Services. Participants expressed low satisfaction with information on fertility preservation, sexual health, and support services. Lower satisfaction was moderately associated with higher anxiety and depression while positively related to quality of life. Most participants preferred phased, face-to-face communication throughout the illness trajectory. Conclusions: The SIPYF-CPS is a valid, multidimensional tool that captures the complex and evolving informational needs of young female cancer survivors. Its clinical use may promote earlier, personalized, and emotionally responsive communication—supporting psychological well-being, informed decision-making, and long-term survivorship care. The significant burden of polypharmacy in clinical settings contrasts sharply with the narrow research focus on drug–drug interactions (DDIs), revealing an important gap in understanding the complexity of real-world multi-drug regimens. The present study addresses this gap by conducting a high-resolution, multidimensional bibliometric and network analysis of 19,151 DDI publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (1975–2025). Using advanced tools, including VOSviewer version 1.6.20, Bibliometrix 5.0.0, and AI-enhanced terminology normalization, global research trajectories, knowledge clusters, and collaborative dynamics were systematically mapped. The analysis revealed an exponential growth in publication volume (from 55 in 1990 to 1194 in 2024), with output led by the United States and a marked acceleration in Chinese contributions after 2015. Key pharmacological agents frequently implicated in DDI research included CYP450-dependent drugs such as statins, antiretrovirals, and central nervous system drugs. Thematic clusters evolved from mechanistic toxicity assessments to complex frameworks involving clinical risk management, oncology co-therapies, and pharmacokinetic modeling. The citation impact peaked at 3.93 per year in 2019, reflecting the increasing integration of DDI research into mainstream areas of pharmaceutical science. The findings highlight a shift toward addressing polypharmacy risks in aging populations, supported by novel computational methodologies. This comprehensive assessment offers insights for researchers and academics aiming to navigate the evolving scientific landscape of DDIs and underlines the need for more nuanced system-level approaches to interaction risk assessment. Future studies should aim to incorporate patient-level real-world data, expand bibliometric coverage to underrepresented regions and non-English literature, and integrate pharmacogenomic and time-dependent variables to enhance predictive models of interaction risk. Cross-validation of AI-based approaches against clinical outcomes and prospective cohort data are also needed to bridge the translational gap and support precision dosing in complex therapeutic regimens. Maintenance scheduling of hydropower units is essential for ensuring the operational security and stability of large-scale cascaded hydropower systems and for improving the efficiency of water energy utilization. This study takes the Cascaded Hydropower System of the Lower Jinsha River (CHSJS) as a representative case, identifying four key challenges facing maintenance planning: multi-dimensional influencing factor coupling, spatial and temporal conflicts with generation dispatch, coordination with transmission line maintenance, and compound uncertainties of inflow and load. To address these issues, four strategic recommendations are proposed: (1) identifying and quantifying the impacts of multi-factor influences on maintenance planning; (2) developing integrated models for the co-optimization of power generation dispatch and maintenance scheduling; (3) formulating coordinated maintenance strategies for hydropower units and associated transmission infrastructure; and (4) constructing joint models to manage the coupled uncertainties of inflow and load. The strategy proposed in this study was applied to the CHSJS, obtaining the weight of the impact factor. The coordinated unit maintenance arrangements of transmission line maintenance periods increased from 56% to 97%. This study highlights the critical need for synergistic optimization of generation dispatch and maintenance scheduling in large-scale cascaded hydropower systems and provides a methodological foundation for future research and practical applications. This study employs system theory and dynamic modeling to investigate how rural homestead rights confirmation influences multidimensional urban–rural integration. Through constructing a system dynamics model incorporating environmental, economic, and social sustainability indicators, an analysis of the structural relationships between land tenure security, resource mobility, and balanced regional development is conducted. The findings reveal that formalized property rights act as a systemic intervention triggering three synergistic effects: (1) enhanced rural resource utilization efficiency, (2) accelerated elements market integration, and (3) improved social equity in development opportunities. Scenario simulations project that, under current policy trajectories, urban–rural integration could achieve intermediate coordination by 2035 through sustainable land management practices. A comparative scenario analysis demonstrates that urban-priority models exacerbate spatial inequality, while rural-optimized and coordinated development pathways accelerate convergence toward comprehensive integration through ecological–economic–social multi-dimensional synergy. This research contributes to sustainability science by quantifying the systemic linkages between institutional innovation and spatial justice, providing evidence-based insights for developing countries pursuing integrated rural revitalization and sustainable urbanization strategies. The Role of Age in Shaping Cognitive, Physical, and Psychosocial Outcomes in Hemodialysis Patients: A Cross-Sectional Study

Background and Objectives: Chronic kidney disease frequently progresses to end-stage renal disease, requiring dialysis, which imposes significant physical, psychological, and social burdens. Age is a key factor influencing symptom experience and quality of life in dialysis patients, yet findings on its impact remain mixed. This study aimed to examine how age relates to a broad range of health domains—including fatigue, pain, cognition, mental health, sexual satisfaction, bowel control, visual impairment, social support, and quality of life—among hemodialysis patients. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at a single dialysis center in Poland, involving 79 adult patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Standardized, validated psychometric instruments were used, including the Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS), Perceived Deficits Questionnaire (PDQ), Pain Effects Scale (PES), Mental Health Inventory (MHI), Modified Social Support Survey (MSSS), Sexual Satisfaction Scale (SSS), Bowel Control Scale (BWCS), Impact of Visual Impairment Scale (IVIS), and WHOQOL-BREF for quality of life. Spearman’s or Pearson’s correlation coefficients were used to evaluate relationships between age and scale scores. Full and abbreviated versions of scales were also compared. Results: Age showed moderate positive correlations with fatigue (ρ = 0.44–0.53), cognitive deficits (ρ = 0.37–0.45), pain (r = 0.41), bowel control issues (ρ = 0.32), and visual impairment (ρ = 0.37), all statistically significant (p < 0.01). No significant associations were observed between age and mental health (MHI), perceived social support (MSSS), or quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF). Abbreviated versions of the scales showed strong correlations with their full versions (ρ > 0.9). Conclusions: While age is linked to increased symptom burden in select domains such as cognition, fatigue, and pain, it does not significantly affect mental health, perceived social support, or overall quality of life in hemodialysis patients. These findings support the use of age-sensitive, multidimensional assessments to inform individualized care strategies. Full article
