Coastal and island tourism represents a key and environmentally sensitive component of the global tourism system, integrating ecological, cultural, and economic dimensions within marine and insular environments. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 1226 Scopus-indexed journal articles in accordance with the PRISMA protocol. By combining performance analysis and science mapping, it examines publication dynamics, thematic structures, intellectual foundations, and global collaboration patterns. The results show steady growth that accelerates after 2010, reflecting the development of descriptive case-based studies to multidisciplinary research. The research landscape reveals four major thematic clusters focusing on tourism development and management, governance and sustainability, climate change adaptation, and technological innovation. The intellectual structure is characterized by seminal works and conceptual foundations that have shaped the development of the field. However, global productivity and collaboration show significant geographic imbalances. This study provides a consolidated understanding of how coastal and island tourism scholarship has evolved and highlights the need for greater theoretical integration, inclusivity, and cooperation to promote sustainable and resilient tourism futures. As the core component of new energy vehicles, the performance of the steering axle will directly affect the overall maneuverability, stability, and safety of vehicle driving. The structural performance indexes of the steering axle of the pure electric vehicle are analyzed by the finite element method, and a reasonable improvement plan is given according to its shortcomings. Firstly, the 3D model of the steering axle is established by SolidWorks (SOLIDWORKS 2023), and the details are simplified appropriately and then imported into the ANSYS (ANSYS2020R2 software) platform for static force analysis and modal analysis. Then, the stress distribution, deformation, and the first six orders of intrinsic frequency values of the steering axle are calculated and analyzed by using four working conditions, such as regular driving, emergency braking, lateral slip, and uneven road excitation, and it is concluded that the maximum stress of the original structure under each working condition is less than the requirement of the ultimate stress value. However, from the results, the maximum stress value is concentrated in the emergency braking condition and appears in the intermediate beam corner and the steering knuckle journal, which is also the most dangerous condition. In the modal analysis, it is concluded that the intrinsic frequency of this symmetry structure is much larger than the excitation frequency, and it can produce better dynamic effects under the working conditions, and the dynamic performance is better. Based on this, combined with the results of the static analysis of the proposed new increase in the thickness of the intermediate beam to improve the structural strength of the improvement measures, for this symmetry structure, through the re-simulation of the effect of the most critical conditions (emergency braking), the maximum deformation of the steering axle has been greatly reduced. In addition, the overall stiffness of the symmetry structure has been greatly improved, while the maximum stress is still less than the value of the permissible stress range, and the modal characteristics of the structure has not been affected. The finite element analysis software can effectively evaluate the performance and improve the optimization of the steering axle, which has certain theoretical significance and engineering reference value. Available reviews of the literature have failed to adequately address research on non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) that has been conducted in developing countries, with the aim of this study being to systematically review empirical research on NSSI that has been conducted among adolescents and young adults living in countries located on the African continent. Guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology for mixed methods systematic reviews, searches were conducted in six databases—PubMed, Scopus, PsychINFO, African Journals Online, African Index Medicus, and Sabinet African Journals—with searches being conducted from inception to 31 December 2024. These searches identified 33 unique records published in peer-reviewed journals or presented in postgraduate theses during the period 1985 to 2024; with the process of data synthesis identifying three broad analytic themes: the nature of NSSI, risk/protective factors associated with NSSI engagement, and the functions of NSSI. Key findings in relation to these themes: (1) highlight the value of an ethnomedical perspective in cross-cultural research on NSSI, and (2) suggest that the conventional focus on intrapersonal and proximal interpersonal influences on NSSI (in relation to both risk/resilience and NSSI functions) could usefully be extended to include influences emanating from the broader sociocultural context in which individuals are embedded. These findings are discussed in terms of their implications for future research. Full article

There is a growing need for comprehensive and transparent frameworks in bibliometric evaluation that support fairer assessments and capture the multifaceted nature of research performance. This study proposes a novel methodology for identifying top-performing researchers based on a composite performance index (CPI). Unlike existing rankings, this framework presents a multidimensional approach by integrating sixteen weighted bibliometrics metrics, spanning research productivity, citation, publications in top journal percentiles, authorship roles, and international collaboration, into a single CPI, enabling a more nuanced and equitable evaluation of researcher performance. Data were retrieved from SciVal for 1996–2025. Two ranking exercises were conducted with Kazakhstan as the analytical unit. Subject-specific rankings identified the top 1% authors within different research areas, while subject-independent rankings highlighted the overall top 1%. CPI distributions varied markedly across disciplines. A comparative analysis with the Stanford/Elsevier global top 2% list was conducted as additional benchmarking. The results highlight that academic excellence depends on a broad spectrum of strengths beyond just productivity, particularly in competitive disciplines. The CPI provides a consistent and adaptable tool for assessing and recognizing research performance; however, future refinements should enhance data coverage, improve representation of early-career researchers, and integrate qualitative aspects. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has achieved immense progress in recent years across a wide array of application domains, with biomedical imaging and sensing emerging as particularly impactful areas. However, the integration of AI in safety-critical fields, particularly biomedical domains, continues to face a major challenge of explainability arising from the opacity of complex prediction models. Overcoming this obstacle falls within the realm of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), which is widely acknowledged as an essential aspect for successfully implementing and accepting AI techniques in practical applications to ensure transparency, fairness, and accountability in the decision-making processes and mitigate potential biases. This article provides a systematic cross-domain review of XAI techniques applied to quantitative prediction tasks, with a focus on their methodological relevance and potential adaptation to biomedical imaging and sensing. To achieve this, following PRISMA guidelines, we conducted an analysis of 44 Q1 journal articles that utilised XAI techniques for prediction applications across different fields where quantitative databases were used, and their contributions to explaining the predictions were studied. As a result, 13 XAI techniques were identified for prediction tasks. Shapley Additive eXPlanations (SHAP) was identified in 35 out of 44 articles, reflecting its frequent computational use for feature-importance ranking and model interpretation. Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME), Partial Dependence Plots (PDPs), and Permutation Feature Index (PFI) ranked second, third, and fourth in popularity, respectively. The study also recognises theoretical limitations of SHAP and related model-agnostic methods, such as their additive and causal assumptions, which are particularly critical in heterogeneous biomedical data. Furthermore, a synthesis of the reviewed studies reveals that while many provide computational evaluation of explanations, none include structured human–subject usability validation, underscoring an important research gap for clinical translation. Overall, this study offers an integrated understanding of quantitative XAI techniques, identifies methodological and usability gaps for biomedical adaptation, and provides guidance for future research aimed at safe and interpretable AI deployment in biomedical imaging and sensing. Background: Nursing research has evolved through different historical stages, from the initial development of theoretical models to today’s challenges involving advanced practice and emerging technologies. Within this context, Middle-Range Nursing Theories (MRNTs) play a crucial role as a bridge between abstract conceptual frameworks and clinical practice. However, their recent production appears limited. Aims: To identify MRNTs published in the last five years, determine the main thematic fields addressed, and analyze current trends in their development. Methods: A scoping review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Databases searched included MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, EMBASE, and Education Research Complete (August 2025). Eligible studies were published within the last five years in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports and explicitly proposed an MRNT. Exclusion criteria encompassed non-nursing theories, secondary applications of existing models, and purely methodological studies. Results: From 1230 initial records, 18 articles met the inclusion criteria. The Revista Brasileira de Enfermagem accounted for the highest number of publications. The identified MRNTs predominantly addressed clinical diagnoses and phenomena such as heart failure self-care, overweight, occupational stress, peripheral tissue perfusion, and social support networks. Most theories were derived from established nursing models (Orem, Roy, Levine, Neuman, Watson). Despite thematic diversity, few MRNTs had undergone methodological validation. Conclusions: Recent MRNT development remains limited and geographically concentrated, with Brazil emerging as a leading contributor. Strengthening methodological validation, clinical integration, and international dissemination is essential, as MRNTs continue to be pivotal tools for advancing nursing science, reinforcing disciplinary identity, and reducing the persistent gap between theory and practice. Reforms in the Chinese National Entrance Examination to Universities (CNEEU) and curriculum standards have significantly influenced national education. This study investigates the evolutionary stages, research trends, and emerging topics in the study of geography examinations for the CNEEU, commonly known as the Gaokao in China. Utilizing CiteSpace software, we analyzed academic journal articles indexed in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database from 1980 to 2023. The analysis focuses on publication volume, regional distribution, core authors, emergent terms, and keyword trends related to geography examinations. The results reveal the following: (1) Research on geography in the CNEEU has experienced three distinct phases since the 1980s—incipient stage, fluctuating growth period, and adjustment period—each characterized by unique emergent keywords reflecting evolving research priorities. (2) The principal research institutions include middle schools, higher normal colleges, and examination research institutes, with scholars from higher normal universities more likely to establish collaborative research groups. (3) Key research topics focus on the content and characteristics of geography examination questions, teaching guidance, test preparation strategies, and the development of simulation questions. (4) Ongoing reforms in the CNEEU and curriculum have significantly influenced the scope, focus, and format of geography examinations, directly impacting geography teaching and learning practice. (5) Emerging trends, including literacy and value-oriented assessment, interdisciplinary integration, and inquiry-based innovation, are expected to shape future research in this field. This study offers valuable insights to support both theoretical research and practical advancement in the design of geography examinations for CNEEU. Full article

The purpose of this research is to systematically map and analyze the use of AI technologies in project management, identifying themes, research gaps, and practical implications. This study conducts a systematic literature review (SLR) that combines bibliometric analysis with qualitative content evaluation to explore the present landscape of AI in project management. The search covered literature published until November 2024, ensuring inclusion of the most recent developments. Studies were included if they examined AI methods applied to project management contexts and were published in peer-reviewed English journals as articles, review articles, or early access publications; studies unrelated to project management or lacking methodological clarity were excluded. It follows a structured coding protocol informed by inductive and deductive reasoning, using NVivo (version 12) and Biblioshiny (version 4.3.0) software. From the entire set of 1064 records retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science, 27 publications met the final inclusion criteria for qualitative synthesis. Bibliometric clusters were derived from the entire set of 885 screened records, while thematic coding was applied to the 27 included studies. This review highlights the use of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), Case-Based Reasoning (CBR), Digital Twins (DTs), and Large Language Models (LLMs) as central to recent progress. Bibliometric mapping identified several major thematic clusters. For this study, we chose those that show a clear link between artificial intelligence (AI) and project management (PM), such as expert systems, intelligent systems, and optimization algorithms. These clusters highlight the increasing influence of AI in improving project planning, decision-making, and resource management. Further studies investigate generative AI and the convergence of AI with blockchain and Internet of Things (IoT) systems, suggesting changes in project delivery approaches. Although adoption is increasing, key implementation issues persist. These include limited empirical evidence, inadequate attention to later project stages, and concerns about data quality, transparency, and workforce adaptation. This review improves understanding of AI’s role in project contexts and outlines areas for further research. For practitioners, the findings emphasize AI’s ability in cost prediction, scheduling, and risk assessment, while also emphasizing the importance of strong data governance and workforce training. This review is limited to English-language, peer-reviewed research indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, potentially excluding relevant grey literature or non-English contributions. This review was not registered and received no external funding. Full article

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths among individuals over the age of 50. It is characterized by exceptional aggressiveness and is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, highlighting the importance of assessing prognostic factors. The deep awareness of these factors may help in better prevention and treatment planning, eventually improving the outcomes. Favorable prognostic factors include female gender, low tumor stage, ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) 0–1, lowest ASI (Activated Stroma Index), low-grade tumor budding, age below 40, adequate nutrition, and absence of distant metastases. Conversely, unfavorable prognostic factors include the presence of distant metastases and metastases into lymph nodes, high tumor stage, LVI (lymphovascular invasion), PNI (perineural invasion), tumor size above 3 cm, invasion into vessels, higher G grade, higher ASI, high-grade tumor budding, more than 1 CTC (circulating tumor cells) in the bloodstream, ECOG 3–4, age above 40, Black ethnicity, malnutrition, and sarcopenia. This review discusses the prognostic factors of PDAC related to tumor characteristics and the patient’s clinical issues. The aim of this review is to synthesize current evidence on prognostic determinants in PDAC, with particular attention to both tumor characteristics and patient-specific clinical features. To achieve this, a comprehensive literature review was performed using PubMed, BrowZine Library, Cochrane Library, SpringerLink, Wiley Online Library, BMJ Journals, and Google Scholar. Relevant studies addressing established and emerging prognostic markers were critically analyzed to provide an updated overview of factors that may influence survival and treatment outcomes. By integrating available data, this review seeks not only to summarize classical prognostic variables but also to highlight novel and underrecognized markers that may hold future clinical relevance. Such an approach may contribute to the refinement of prognostic models, support more accurate patient counseling, and ultimately aid in the optimization of therapeutic strategies for individuals affected by PDAC. The green economy and the broader green transition have become central themes in global sustainability efforts, reflecting a strategic shift in addressing environmental challenges through economic transformation. This study provides a systematic bibliometric analysis of 1014 peer-reviewed publications indexed in Scopus on the green transition within the framework of sustainable development, covering the period 1990–2024. The findings show a rapid growth in research output after 2015, culminating in 360 publications in 2024. China, Italy, and the Russian Federation emerge as the most active contributors, while collaboration networks reveal both established partnerships and emerging participation from Central and Eastern Europe. Influential authors include Mahmood Haider and Fabio Iraldo, and major publication outlets are the Journal of Cleaner Production, Sustainability (Switzerland), and Ecological Economics. Four thematic clusters—renewable energy, climate policy, circular economy, and green innovation—highlight dominant research trajectories and persistent knowledge gaps. By mapping authors, sources, keyword co-occurrences, and citation structures, this study offers a structured foundation for future research and a clearer understanding of how the green transition is conceptualized within sustainability scholarship. The Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast (SCOBY) is a cellulose-based biofilm resulting from the fermentation of sweetened tea by a microbial consortium of acetic acid bacteria and yeasts. This study applies the Methodi Ordinatio technique to systematically identify, rank, and analyze the most relevant scientific publications on the applications of SCOBY. A comprehensive search in SCOPUS and Web of Science yielded 179 articles, after manual filtration. The InOrdinatio index, which combines citation count, publication year, and journal impact factor, was used for ranking to select a representative sample of the most important contributions (117 articles). The highest-ranked article scored 128.9, and the lowest 42.6. China led in scientific output (14.01%), followed by India (11.46%), the UK and USA (5.10% each), and Brazil (4.46%). The International Journal of Biological Macromolecules was the most frequently used journal for publications in this field. “Bacterial cellulose” was the most cited keyword (61 times), followed by “kombucha” (41) and “fermentation” (29). A consistent rise in publications has been observed over the past five years. Four main application areas were identified: bacterial cellulose (BC) (38%), biosustainable materials (28%), biomedical (17%), and food-related uses (17%). Most of the studies related to BC production (52%) searched for alternative substrates, and 18% focused on the isolation and identification of the most productive microorganisms within SCOBY. For biomedical applications, a unifying theme is the development of SCOBY-based materials with intrinsic antibacterial properties. These findings emphasize SCOBY’s emerging role in sustainable innovation and circular economic frameworks. Full article

Against the backdrop of global agricultural transformation, rural China faces the critical challenge of reconciling economic development with environmental conservation and social well-being. This study, grounded in the rural revitalization strategy, investigates the internal mechanisms, level measurement, and sustainable development paths of rural industrial integration based on the “Triple Integration of Production, Livelihood and Ecology” (PLE) philosophy. Firstly, we discussed the suitability and the mechanisms of this philosophy on China’s rural industrial integration. Secondly, based on a textual corpus extracted from academic journals and policy documents, we employed an LDA topic model to cluster the themes and construct an evaluation indicator system comprising 29 indicators. Then, utilizing data from the China Statistical Yearbook and the China Rural Statistical Yearbook (2013–2022), we measured the level of China’s rural industrial integration using the entropy method. The composite integration index displays a continuous upward trend over 2013–2022, accelerating markedly after the 2015 stimulus policy, yet a temporary erosion of “production–livelihood–ecology” synergy occurred in 2020 owing to an exogenous shock. Lastly, combining the system dynamics model, we simulated over the period 2023–2030 the three sustainable development scenarios: green ecological development priority, livelihood standard development priority and production level development priority. Research has shown that (1) the “Triple Synergy of Production, Livelihood and Ecology” philosophy and China’s rural industrial integration are endogenously unified, and they form a two-way mutual mechanism with the common goal of sustainable development. (2) China’s rural industrial integration under this philosophy is characterized by production-dominated development and driven mainly by processing innovation and service investment, but can be constrained by ecological fragility and external shocks. (3) System dynamics simulations reveal that the production-development priority scenario (Scenario 3) is the most effective pathway, suggesting that the production system is a vital engine driving the sustainable development of China’s rural industrial integration, with digitalization and technological innovation significantly improving integration efficiency. In the future, efforts should focus on transitioning towards a people-centered model by restructuring cooperative equity for farmer ownership, building community-based digital commons to bridge capability gaps, and creating market mechanisms to monetize and reward conservation practices. Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping skill expectations across media, marketing, and journalism, however, university curricula are not evolving at a comparable speed. To quantify the resulting curriculum–skill gap in communication-related programs, two synchronous corpora were assembled for the period July 2024–June 2025: 66 course descriptions from six leading UK universities and 107 graduate-to-mid-level job advertisements in communications, digital media, advertising, and public relations. Alignment around AI, datafication, and platform governance was assessed through a three-stage natural-language-processing workflow: a dual-tier AI-keyword index, comparative TF–IDF salience, and latent Dirichlet allocation topic modeling with bootstrap uncertainty. Curricula devoted 6.0% of their vocabulary to AI plus data/platform terms, whereas job ads allocated only 2.3% (χ2 = 314.4, p < 0.001), indicating a conceptual-critical emphasis on ethics, power, and societal impact in the academy versus an operational focus on SEO, multichannel analytics, and campaign performance in recruitment discourse. Topic modeling corroborated this divergence: universities foregrounded themes labelled “Politics, Power & Governance”, while advertisers concentrated on “Campaign Execution & Performance”. Environmental and social externalities of AI—central to the Special Issue theme—were foregrounded in curricula but remained virtually absent from job advertisements. The findings are interpreted as an extension of technology-biased-skill-change theory to communication disciplines, and it is suggested that studio-based micro-credentials in automation workflows, dashboard visualization, and sustainable AI practice be embedded without relinquishing critical reflexivity, thereby narrowing the curriculum–skill gap and fostering environmentally, socially, and economically responsible media innovation. With respect to the novelty of this research, it constitutes the first large-scale, data-driven corpus analysis that empirically assessed the AI-related curriculum–skill gap in communication disciplines, thereby extending technology-biased-skill-change theory into this field. This study presents a bibliometric and thematic analysis of economic convergence analysis from 1982 to 2025, based on a corpus of 2924 Scopus-indexed articles. Using VOSviewer and the bibliometrix R package, this research maps the field’s intellectual structure, identifying five main thematic clusters: (1) formal statistical models, (2) institutional-contextual approaches, (3) theoretical–statistical foundations, (4) nonlinear historical dynamics, and (5) normative and policy assessments. These reflect a shift from descriptive to explanatory and prescriptive frameworks, with growing integration of sustainability, spatial analysis, and institutional factors. The most productive journals include Journal of Econometrics (121 articles), Applied Economics (117), and Journal of Cleaner Production (81), while seminal contributions by Quah, Im et al., and Levin et al. anchor the co-citation network. International collaboration is significant, with 25.99% of publications involving cross-country co-authorship, particularly in European and North American networks. The field has grown at a compound annual rate of 14.4%, accelerating after 2000 and peaking in 2022–2024, indicating sustained academic interest. These findings highlight the maturation of convergence analysis as a multidisciplinary domain. Practically, this study underscores the value of composite indicators and spatial econometric models for monitoring regional, environmental, and technological convergence—offering policymakers tools for inclusive growth, climate resilience, and innovation strategies. Moreover, the emergence of clusters around sustainability and digital transformation reveals fertile ground for future research at the intersection of transitions in energy, digital, and institutional domains and sustainable development (a broader sense of structural change). The fashion industry, despite its global economic importance, is a major contributor to environmental degradation and social inequality. In response, sustainable fashion has emerged as a growing movement advocating ethical, ecological, and socially responsible practices. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 1134 peer-reviewed journal articles on sustainable fashion indexed in Scopus from 1986 to 2025. Results show an exponential rise in research output after 2015, with interdisciplinary contributions from social sciences, business, environmental science, and engineering. By applying performance analysis and science mapping techniques, the study identifies five major research themes: “Consumer Behavior,” “Design Ethics,” “Circular Economy,” “Innovation,” and “Digital Media.” The geographic distribution reveals strong outputs from both developed and emerging economies. This study provides an integrative overview of the intellectual landscape of sustainable fashion and serves as a roadmap for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners who are interested in the development of sustainable fashion.
