The composition of partially ionised plasmas is investigated for densities and temperatures at which the free electrons are degenerate. Based on a quantum statistical approach, the effect of Pauli blocking is addressed. Specifically, one- and two-electron ions are studied. Approximations for deriving an in-medium Schrödinger equation for the ionization potential are indicated. New results regarding the degree of ionisation and the Mott effect are presented. Standard codes for plasma properties do not take Pauli blocking effects into account and are therefore unable to explain the experiments in the high-density regime, where the electrons are degenerate. Ion-acoustic waves in dense quantum plasmas are strongly influenced by Fermi degeneracy, Landau quantization, and finite-temperature effects, and in many relevant environments, they also experience memory and nonlocal transport processes that cannot be captured within the planar integer Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) paradigm. In the present work, we revisit this problem by considering a two-fluid, partially degenerate electron-ion plasma in which electron trapping in the presence of a quantizing field and finite temperature is taken into account. Starting from the normalized fluid-Poisson system appropriate for such magnetized quantum plasmas, the reductive perturbation technique is used to derive the planar integer KdV equation for weakly nonlinear ion-acoustic disturbances. Within this integer-order KdV framework, we recast the evolution equation as a planar dynamical system, construct the associated Hamiltonian and effective Sagdeev-like potential, and demonstrate the existence of compressive solitary waves and nonlinear periodic modes via homoclinic and periodic phase-space orbits. Exact multi-soliton solutions and interaction states are then obtained by combining Hirota’s direct bilinear method with generalized Wronskian representations, allowing us to describe not only standard one-, two-, and three-soliton profiles but also positon-negaton interactions relevant to magnetized, partially degenerate plasmas. To incorporate hereditary and history-dependent effects that arise from anomalous transport and nonlocal temporal response in dense environments, we extend the model by introducing a Caputo time-fractional derivative, thereby obtaining a time-fractional KdV (FKdV) equation that continuously connects the classical KdV limit to fractional dynamics. The FKdV equation is analyzed using the Tantawy technique. This semi-analytical iterative scheme yields rapidly convergent series approximations for the fractional ion-acoustic soliton and provides explicit control of the approximation error. The fractional solutions show that varying the order of the Caputo derivative modifies the amplitude, width, and temporal relaxation of the solitary structures and can even split the pulse into two distinct lobes, in contrast with the nearly rigid propagation predicted by the integer-order KdV equation. Taken together, these results clarify how Landau quantization, finite electron temperature, and fractional-order memory jointly shape the morphology, robustness, and interaction properties of ion-acoustic structures in strongly magnetized quantum plasmas of astrophysical and high-energy-density laboratory interest. In this study, the effects of pressure anisotropy and viscosity on the propagation of shock waves in spin-polarized degenerate quantum magnetoplasma are studied under the influence of the streaming energy of ion beams. The effects of different suitable plasma parameters on the shock wave’s potential profile are studied using the steady state solution of the Zakharov–Kuznetsov–Burgers (Z–K–B) equation, as well as the numerical simulation of the governing non-linear Z–K–B equation. First-order analysis of the non-linear wave propagation depicted a new beam-induced stable mode whose Mach number may be subsonic or supersonic depending on the anisotropic pressure combination in the presence of different spin density polarization ratios. This is the first observation of this new beam-induced stable mode in ion beam plasma, apart from the other existing modes of ion beam plasma systems, namely, the fast beam mode, the slow beam mode, the inherent ion acoustic mode, and the coupled mode, which also has unique propagation characteristics compared to the other modes. The spin density polarization ratio of spin-up and spin-down electrons have an unprecedented effect on the polarity and the direction of propagation of different shock wave modes in such plasma systems. Apart from the spin effect, anisotropic pressure combinations, as well as the viscosity of ions and ion beams, also play an outstanding role in controlling the nature of propagation of shock waves, especially in the newly detected beam-induced stable mode, and depending on the viscosity parameters of ions and ion beams, both oscillatory and monotonic shock waves can propagate in such plasma. We study the effective interactions and the mass action constants for pair and triple associations in classical and quantum plasmas. Avoiding double counting, we derive new expressions for the mass action constants. The calculations resulted in values that were substantially smaller than the standard ones in relevant temperature ranges by up to 50 percent. On this basis, we determine the pressure of H, He and Li plasmas and the osmotic coefficient of electrolytes with higher charges such as, e.g., seawater. Classical and quantum Coulomb systems show strong similarities. The contributions in low orders with respect to the interaction e2 are suppressed by thermal and screening effects. The contributions of weakly bound states, near the continuum edge, to the mass action constants are reduced, replacing the exponential functions with cropped exponentials. The new mass action constants are consistent with well-known extended limiting cases of screening effects. We analyze classical examples including the salts CaCl2 and LaCl3, and a model of seawater including multiple associations. In the case of quantum systems, we follow the work of Planck–Brillouin–Larkin for H plasmas and study He and Li plasmas. The equation of state (EoS) for wide-density regions is obtained through the concatenation of the EoS for the low-density region of partial ionization with the EoS of degenerate plasmas, where all bound states are dissolved and Fermi, Hartree–Fock and Wigner contributions dominate. A warm degenerate magneto-rotating quantum plasma (WDMRQP) model consisting of a static heavy nucleus, inertial non-degenerate light nucleus, and warm non-relativistic or ultra-relativistic electrons has been considered to observe the generation of nucleus-acoustic (NA) solitary waves (NASWs). A Korteweg–de-Vries-type equation is derived by using the reductive perturbation method to describe the characteristics of the NASWs. It has been observed that the temperature of warm degenerate species, rotational speed of the plasma system, and the presence of heavy nucleus species modify the basic features (height and width) of NASWs in the WDMRQP system and support the existence of positive NA wave potential only. The applications of the present investigation have been briefly discussed. Full article

A theoretical investigation has been carried out to examine the ion-acoustic shock waves (IASHWs) in a magnetized degenerate quantum plasma system containing inertialess ultra-relativistically degenerate electrons, and inertial non-relativistic positively charged heavy and light ions. The Burgers equation is derived by employing the reductive perturbation method. It can be seen that under the consideration of non-relativistic positively charged heavy and light ions, the plasma model only supports the positive electrostatic shock structure. It is also observed that the charge state and number density of the non-relativistic heavy and light ions enhance the amplitude of IASHWs, and the steepness of the shock profile is decreased with ion kinematic viscosity. The findings of our present investigation will be helpful in understanding the nonlinear propagation of IASHWs in white dwarfs and neutron stars. Full article
