Radon anomalies have long been explored as potential geochemical precursors to seismic activity due to their responsiveness to subsurface stress variations. However, before this study, the scientific progression of this research domain had not been systematically examined through a quantitative lens. This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 379 articles published between 1977 and 2025 and indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. Utilizing the Bibliometrix R-package and its Biblioshiny interface, the analysis investigates temporal publication trends, leading countries, institutions, international collaboration networks, and thematic evolution. The results reveal a marked increase in research output since 2010, with China, India, and Italy emerging as the most prolific contributors. Thematic mapping indicates a shift from conventional geochemical monitoring toward the integration of artificial intelligence techniques, such as decision trees and neural networks, for anomaly detection and predictive modeling. Notwithstanding this methodological evolution, core research themes remain centered on radon concentration monitoring and the analysis of environmental parameters. Overall, the findings highlight the coexistence of traditional and emerging approaches, emphasizing the importance of standardized methodologies and interdisciplinary collaboration. This bibliometric synthesis provides strategic insights to inform future research and strengthen the role of radon monitoring in seismic early warning systems. Full article

The digital economy has amplified the role of technological innovation in transforming financial services and business models. Patent data offer valuable insights into these dynamics, especially within the growing FinTech ecosystem. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of academic research that utilizes PATSTAT, a global database managed by the European Patent Office, focusing on its application in studies related to digital innovation, finance, and economic transformation. A systematic mapping of publications indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, Wiley, Emerald, and Springer Nature is carried out using Biblioshiny and Bibliometrix in RStudio 2025.05.0, complemented by graph-based visualizations via VOSviewer 1.6.20. The findings reveal a growing body of research that leverages PATSTAT to explore technological trajectories, intellectual property strategies, and innovation systems, particularly in areas such as blockchain technologies, AI-driven finance, digital payments, and smart contracts. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the strategic value of patent analytics in the FinTech landscape and offers a reference point for researchers and decision-makers aiming to understand emerging trends in financial technologies and the digital economy. Modern financial practices introduce complex risks, which in turn force financial institutions to rely increasingly on computational risk analytics (CRA). The purpose of our research is to attempt to systematically explore the evolution and intellectual structure of CRA in banking using a detailed bibliometric analysis of the literature sourced from Web of Science from 2000 to 2025. A comprehensive search in the Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection yielded 1083 peer-reviewed publications, which we analyzed using analytical tools like VOSviewer 1.6.20 and Bibliometrix (Biblioshiny 5.0) so as to examine the dataset and uncover bibliometric characteristics like citation patterns, keyword occurrences, and thematic clustering. Our initial analysis results uncover the presence of key research clusters focusing on bankruptcy prediction, AI integration in financial services, and advanced deep learning applications. Furthermore, our findings note a transition of CRA from an emerging to an expanding domain, especially after 2019, with terms like machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and deep learning (DL) being identified as prominent keywords and a recent shift towards blockchain, explainability, and financial stability being present. We believe that this study tries to address the need for an updated mapping of CRA, providing valuable insights for future academic inquiry and practical financial risk management applications. Water is an essential resource for life; however, the quality of available water on the planet has been compromised due to various factors, including microbiological contamination. Objective: To analyze the global scientific production of microbiological water contamination using bibliometric methods. Method: A search for scientific articles was conducted using the advanced query function in the Web of Science™ database, specifically in its core collection, on 26 February 2025. Data from 2000 articles were analyzed using the Bibliometrix package in R (version 4.2.1) and the Biblioshiny application (version 2.0). Results: The evaluated articles were published between 1952 and 2025, with a peak in publications in 2022. The journal Water Research stood out as the most relevant, publishing 128 articles. The Egyptian Knowledge Bank was identified as the most productive institution, while China had the highest number of contributing authors. The most cited article received 475 citations. Additionally, KeyWords Plus™ highlighted the focus of the studies on ecological and biotechnological methods for contaminant removal, as well as the presence of waterborne pathogens and their inactivation methods. Conclusions: The results show a growing interest in the development of ecological and biotechnological methods for contaminant removal and pathogen inactivation in water. The integration of artificial intelligence with real-time monitoring systems emerges as a promising strategy for improving water quality management. These findings highlight the relevance of the topic for public health and health education. Full article

Mapping the Landscape of Blockchain for Transparent and Sustainable Supply Chains: A Bibliometric and Thematic Analysis

Background: The increasing complexity of global supply chains has intensified the demand for transparency, traceability, security, and sustainability in logistics and operations. Blockchain technology enables decentralized, immutable frameworks that improve data integrity, automate transactions via smart contracts, and integrate seamlessly with the IoT and AI. Methods: This bibliometric review analyzes 559 peer-reviewed publications retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science using a PRISMA-guided protocol. Data were processed with Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny to examine scientific production, contributing institutions, author countries, collaboration patterns, thematic clusters, and keyword evolution. Results: The analysis reveals a 400% increase in publications after 2020, with China, India, and the USA leading in output but with limited international collaboration. Keyword co-occurrence and thematic mapping reveal dominant topics, including smart contracts, food supply chain traceability, and sustainability, as well as emerging themes such as decentralization, privacy, and the circular economy. Conclusions: The field is marked by interdisciplinary growth, yet it remains thematically and geographically fragmented. This review maps the intellectual structure of blockchain-enabled sustainable supply chains, offering insights for policymakers, developers, and industry leaders and outlining future research avenues centered on global cooperation, platform efficiency, and ethical and regulatory dimensions. This study presents a bibliometric review aimed at mapping and analyzing the scientific literature related to the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI) in livestock farming, which is a rapidly emerging yet still underexplored field in international research. Based on the Scopus database, 151 documents published between 2015 and 2025 were identified and analyzed using the VOSviewer version 1.6.20 and Biblioshiny for Bibliometrix (RStudio version 2023.12.1) tools. The results show a significant increase in publications from 2021 onwards, reflecting the growing maturity of discussions around the integration of digital technologies in the agricultural sector. Keyword co-occurrence and bibliographic coupling analyses revealed the formation of four main thematic clusters, covering technical applications in precision livestock farming as well as reflections on governance, animal welfare, and algorithmic justice. The most influential authors, high-impact journals, and leading countries in the field were also identified. As a key contribution, this study highlights the lack of robust ethical guidelines and proposes future research directions for the development of regulatory frameworks, codes of conduct, and interdisciplinary approaches. The findings underscore the importance of aligning technological innovation with ethical responsibility and social inclusion in the transition to digital livestock farming. Full article

Microplastics have emerged as pervasive contaminants in various ecosystems, raising considerable concerns regarding their impact on environmental health and public safety. The degradation of microplastics is thus recognized as a pressing global challenge. Photocatalytic degradation has emerged as a promising approach due to its potential for efficiency and environmental sustainability. Nevertheless, there remains a need to investigate emerging trends and advancements to understand and fully optimize this technique. Consequently, PRISMA guidelines were employed to define the search parameters, enable the identification of pertinent scholarly articles, and systematically gather bibliographic data from the published literature from 2005 to October 2024. A bibliometric analysis of 204 research articles derived from merged Scopus and Web of Science datasets was conducted to map the field’s research landscape. The analysis showed a robust annual publication growth rate of 17.94%, with leading contributions from China, India, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. Keyword analysis revealed that the commonly applied photocatalysts are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide in the photocatalytic degradation of polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, high-density polyethylene, and low-density polyethylene. Advances in collaboration across Asia and Europe have bolstered the research landscape. However, challenges persist in achieving cost-effective scalability, ensuring the safety of degradation byproducts, and translating laboratory findings into real-world applications. Emerging trends include the development of visible-light-responsive catalysts, advanced nanocomposites, and sustainable photocatalytic technologies. This study underscores the utility of bibliometric tools in identifying knowledge gaps and guiding the development of innovative approaches for microplastic degradation as part of environmental remediation efforts. The reliability and robustness of global electrical networks are being impacted by the reciprocal effects of climate change and severe weather events. This article assesses research and collaborative trends to further these concerns. This study attempts to identify trends, principal contributors, and emerging fields of research by a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of articles relevant to power system resilience during extreme weather events. A comprehensive search was conducted in the Web of Science and Scopus databases to acquire appropriate papers from 2014 to 2025. The implementation criteria for eligibility requirements comprised peer-reviewed publications, including reviews and conference papers. The Bibliometrix and Biblioshiny tools were used to conduct data analysis, evaluating keyword co-occurrences, citation networks, and cooperation networks. The study selection process and reporting adhered to the PRISMA 2020 framework. A dataset of 1178 documents from 535 sources indicated an annual growth rate of 13.06%. China was the most producing country, while the USA, China, UK, and Iran became the most cited countries. Keyword analysis identified common topics including resilience, power outages, and extreme weather, alongside an increasing focus on AI-driven modeling, distributed energy resources, and optimization algorithms. This systematic review emphasizes the growing research field addressing power system resilience, focusing on improvements in modeling strategies, optimization approaches, and risk management applications. Future research must concentrate on the integration of AI, evaluations of regional vulnerabilities, and the development of predictive frameworks to tackle rising climate concerns. Full article

Sustainability has become one of the main drivers of organizational performance. This study investigates the integration of sustainability with the balanced scorecard (BSC) as a framework for translating environmental management strategy into organizational performance. This review also seeks to map sustainability balanced scorecard (SBSC) research, clarifying its current role and identifying gaps and opportunities for future research. To achieve this, we sourced and reviewed 247 publications from the Web of Science index, corresponding to 129 scientific journals and 57 conference proceedings. Our analysis included content analysis and bibliometric analysis performed using the R packages Bibliometrix (version: 4.3.5), Biblioshiny, and CiteSpace (6.3.R1 Basic). The findings revealed that the SBSC enhances organizational capacity to align sustainability with strategic objectives, although significant implementation barriers remain, such as the selection of appropriate sustainability indicators and organizational resistance. This study contributes to advancing the theoretical and practical understanding of the SBSC while offering pathways for future research and application across sectors. Full article

This study reviews and synthesizes the scholarly work on sustainability reporting as a governance tool in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework. Bibliometrix R-package (Biblioshiny) and VosViewer are utilized to examine the descriptive and thematic outcomes using 148 articles from the Web of Science database. In contrast to previous bibliometric reviews, this study not only maps the broader landscape of the literature but also provides an in-depth exploration of three emerging thematic areas, offering a more nuanced understanding of the evolving discourse on corporate sustainability. Network visualization of keywords unveils three core themes within this research domain: Theme 1: sustainability reporting as a governance mechanism; Theme 2: the intersection of sustainable development goals (SDGs) and corporate sustainability; and Theme 3: the performance-accountability paradox in sustainability disclosure, which facilitated the identification of potential future research directions. The research outcome could contribute to institutional policies on sustainability reporting, highlighting (1) the importance of corporate governance in guiding businesses on policies and practices in sustainability reporting and mobilizing collective efforts among stakeholders on sustainability reporting, and (2) the awareness of using it as a platform to enhance the implementation of SDGs. This study underscores sustainability reporting as a disclosure mechanism and a pivotal governance tool for guiding institutional alignment with the SDGs. Full article

Environmental design provides crucial solutions for achieving sustainable development goals while offering new opportunities to improve human living conditions and enhance social welfare. This study employs bibliometric analysis using the R language to examine environmental design-related journal articles collected from the WoS database between 2000 and 2024, quantitatively analyzing the overall development of the environmental design research field over the past two decades. Currently, environmental design research is experiencing rapid development. Through cluster analysis, three major research hotspots in this field have been identified: green buildings and sustainable urbanization, ecological restoration and environmental governance, and the application of intelligent technology in environmental design. Through evolution analysis, the logical development of environmental design research has been determined, with technological innovation playing a pivotal role in the field’s advancement. Following this logic, we propose three frontiers with explosive development in the environmental design field: human-centered environmental design, intelligent technology application, and regional cultural adaptability. Environmental design represents a core research direction in architecture, urban planning, and environmental science disciplines, and serves as a crucial domain for emerging technologies to empower sustainable development. The research findings clearly present the current status, evolutionary logic, and research frontiers of this field, providing valuable references for its further development. Full article

Universal accessibility in cultural heritage is a key challenge to ensure the inclusion of all visitors in historical and tourist environments. The aim of this research is to analyze the current state of research on universal accessibility to cultural heritage in Spain, identifying the key institutions, themes, and trends within this field. Additionally, it seeks to assess how these findings relate to national priorities and highlight gaps in the implementation of accessibility measures. This study employed the PRISMA 2020 framework to select and analyze 1035 scientific articles published between 2010 and 2025, retrieved from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Bibliometrix (an R package) and Biblioshiny were used to analyze the data. The results show an exponential growth in publications since 2018, highlighting key areas such as accessible tourism, digitalization, the use of technologies for heritage documentation, urban planning, and geo-heritage conservation. It is concluded that accessibility in cultural heritage is an expanding interdisciplinary field with increasing international significance. It is recommended to continue exploring innovative technological solutions, strengthen governance strategies, and expand studies to rural and natural environments to ensure truly universal accessibility. (1) Background: The literature indicates that pesticide use and exposure can lead to neurodegenerative and carcinogenic effects in living organisms. Additionally, pesticides have been reported to influence lipid metabolism. Based on this, the objective of this analysis was to identify the most relevant authors, countries, institutions, and journals addressing the relationship between pesticides and lipoproteins; (2) Methods: The analysis was conducted using the Web of Science database and bibliometric tools, including Bibliometrix/Biblioshiny and VOSViewer software; (3) Results: A total of 72 publications from 1977 to 2014 were identified, spanning 49 sources, 3453 references, and 390 authors. The journal Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology stood out, with seven articles and an h-index of 5. The most relevant author was Samira Salihovic. China was the top country in terms of scientific output on this topic. The United Kingdom and Spain were notable for their international collaborations. Additionally, Duk Hee Lee and Monica P. Lind were found to have the highest co-citation relationship; (4) Conclusions: This analysis highlights the relatively small number of publications on pesticides and lipoproteins between 1977 and 2024, despite growing interest in the field due to its health implications. Expanding collaborations between developed and emerging countries is essential for advancing knowledge in this critical area. Full article

Abstract

Customer loyalty and retention are crucial for digital platforms, yet systematic studies integrating technological innovation and loyalty strategies remain scarce. This study addresses this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of key factors influencing customer retention in the digital environment. Our research employs a quantitative bibliometric approach using the Biblioshiny and Bibliometrix tools (RStudio 2022.02), analyzing 300 scientific articles from the Web of Science database (2021–2024). This study applies bibliometric techniques such as descriptive metrics, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, and scientific collaboration mapping to identify trends and thematic clusters. Our findings indicate that emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and big data, significantly impact customer experience, trust, and engagement. Personalization and digital innovation emerge as fundamental drivers of customer retention, offering strategic insights for companies aiming to strengthen competitiveness in the global digital market. Under the dual pressures of climate change and rapid urbanization, a comprehensive analysis of vegetation’s spatiotemporal patterns and their driving forces plays a pivotal role for addressing global ecological challenges. However, systematic bibliometric analyses in this field remain limited. This study involved a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 18,270 related publications from 1989 to 2024 retrieved from the Web of Science SCI-Expanded database, elucidating research trends, methodologies, and key thematic areas. Utilizing the bibliometrix and biblioshiny tools, the results reveal an annual average growth rate of 17.62% in the number of published research articles, indicating rapid research expansion. Climate change emerged as the core driving force, with high-frequency keywords such as “vegetation”, “dynamics”, and “variability”. China (18,687 papers), the United States (14,502 papers), and Germany (3394 papers) are the leading contributors in this domain, with China showing the fastest growth in research output, albeit with relatively lower average citation rates. Core journals, including Remote Sensing of Environment and Global Change Biology, have played pivotal roles in advancing vegetation dynamics research, with remote sensing techniques dominating the field. The study highlights a shift in vegetation dynamics research from single-variable analyses (e.g., temperature, precipitation) to multi-scale and multidimensional approaches around 2010. Regional studies, such as those focusing on the Loess Plateau, are gaining importance, while advancements in remote sensing and machine learning technologies have enhanced the precision and scalability of research. This study provides a comprehensive summary of the current state and development trends in vegetation spatiotemporal dynamics and their driving forces, offering valuable insights for future research in the field.
