This paper investigates the teleparallel Robertson–Walker (TRW) F(T) gravity solutions for a Chaplygin gas, and then for any polytropic gas cosmological source. We use the TRW F(T) gravity field equations (FEs) for each k-parameter value case and the relevant gas equation of state (EoS) to find the new teleparallel F(T) solutions. For flat k=0 cosmological case, we find analytical solutions valid for any cosmological scale factor. For curved k=±1 cosmological cases, we find new approximated teleparallel F(T) solutions for slow, linear, fast and very fast universe expansion cases summarizing by a double power-law function. All the new solutions will be relevant for future cosmological applications on dark matter, dark energy (DE) quintessence, phantom energy, Anti-deSitter (AdS) spacetimes and several other cosmological processes. We numerically construct compact stars in the scalar–tensor theory of gravity with non-minimal derivative coupling of a scalar field to the curvature and nonzero cosmological constant. There are two free parameters in this model of gravity: the non-minimal derivative coupling parameter and the cosmological constant parameter ξ. We study the relationship between the model parameters and characteristic of the neutron star, which allowed us to limit the permissible range of ξ and . In particular, in the case ξ=1, the external geometry of the neutron star coincides with the Schwarzschild–anti-de Sitter geometry, while the internal geometry of the star differs from the case of the standard gravity theory. Many realistic equations of the state of neutron star matter were considered. In general, the neutron star model in the theory of gravity with a non-minimal derivative coupling does not contradict astronomical data and is viable. Full article

Although the gravitational interaction between matter and antimatter has been the subject of theoretical speculation since the discovery of the latter in 1928, only recently was the ALPHA experiment at CERN able to observe, for the first time, the effects of gravity on antimatter atoms, namely on antihydrogen. After an introduction of the concept of antimatter, along with its still-unresolved mysteries, details about how antihydrogen is produced at the Antimatter Factory at CERN will be given. Finally, the measurement of the acceleration of gravity of antihydrogen atoms falling in the Earth’s gravitational field will be described. Full article

We recently proved that in our model of quantum gravity, the solutions to the quantized version of the full Einstein equations or to the Wheeler–DeWitt equation could be expressed as products of spatial and temporal eigenfunctions, or eigendistributions, of self-adjoint operators acting in corresponding separable Hilbert spaces. Moreover, near the big bang singularity, we derived sharp asymptotic estimates for the temporal eigenfunctions. In this paper, we show that, by using these estimates, there exists a complete sequence of unitarily equivalent eigenfunctions which can be extended past the singularity by even or odd mirroring as sufficiently smooth functions such that the extended functions are solutions of the appropriately extended equations valid in R in the classical sense. We also use this phenomenon to explain the missing antimatter. Full article

We show that Einstein’s conformal gravity can explain, simply, and on the geometric ground, galactic rotation curves, without the need to introduce any modification in both the gravitational as well as in the matter sector of the theory. The geometry of each galaxy is described by a metric obtained, making a singular rescaling of Schwarzschild’s spacetime. The new exact solution, asymptotically anti-de Sitter, manifests an unattainable singularity at infinity that cannot be reached in finite proper time; namely, the spacetime is geodetically complete. It deserves to be noticed that, in this paper, we have a different opinion from the usual one. Indeed, instead of making the metric singularity-free, we make it apparently but harmlessly even more singular than Schwarzschild’s. Finally, it is crucial to point out that Weyl’s conformal symmetry is spontaneously broken into the new singular vacuum rather than the asymptotically flat Schwarzschild’s one. The metric is unique according to the null energy condition, the zero acceleration for photons in the Newtonian regime, and the homogeneity of the Universe at large scales. Once the matter is conformally coupled to gravity, the orbital velocity for a probe star in the galaxy turns out to be asymptotically constant consistent with the observations and the Tully–Fisher relation. Therefore, we compare our model with a sample of 175 galaxies and show that our velocity profile very well interpolates the galactic rotation curves after a proper choice of the only free parameter in the metric. The mass-to-luminosity ratios of galaxies turn out to be close to 1, consistent with the absence of dark matter. Full article

In this work, the author employs the quantum hydrodynamic formalism to achieve the geometrization of spacetime for describing the gravitational interaction within the framework of quantum theory. This approach allows for the development of an equation of gravity that is mathematically connected to the fermion and boson fields. This achievement is accomplished by incorporating two fundamental principles: covariance of the quantum field equations and the principle of least action. By considering these principles, a theory is established that enables the calculation of gravitational corrections to quantum electrodynamics and, potentially, to the standard model of particle physics as well. The theory also provides an explanation for two phenomena: the existence of a cosmological pressure density similar to quintessence, which is compatible with the small value of the observed cosmological constant, and the breaking of matter–antimatter symmetry at high energies, offering insights into why there is an imbalance between the two in the early universe. In the cosmological modeling of the theory, there exists a proposal to account for the formation of supermassive black holes that are accompanied by their own surrounding galaxies, without relying on the process of mass accretion. The model, in accordance with recent observations conducted by the James Webb Space Telescope, supports the notion that galactic configurations were established relatively early in the history of the universe, shortly after the occurrence of the Big Bang. In this paper, we study the matter–antimatter imbalance in the universe through baryogenesis (also known as baryosynthesis), which is a physical process that took off just a little while after the big bang explosion, producing a supremacy of matter over antimatter. In this work, we commit the reproduction of the baryon to entropy ratio (ηBS=ηβηβ¯S), where ηβ(ηβ¯) is a baryon(anti-baryon) number and S is the entropy of the universe in the presence of modified Hořava-Lifshitz F(R) gravity, which is also called F(R˜)-gravity. We inspect different baryogenesis interactions proportional to R˜ (where R˜ is the argument of general function F used for the development of modified Hořava-Lifshitz gravity). For this study, we examine two models by choosing different values of F(R˜). In the first model, the functional value of F(R˜)=R˜+αR˜2 (where α is a real constant). The second model is more generalized and extended as compare to first one. Mathematically, this model is given by F(R˜)=R˜+αR˜2+βR˜m, where α, β are real constants and m>2 is a real model parameter. Our results for both models and different values of m point out that matter-antimatter asymmetry does not vanish under the effect of the modified Hořava-Lifshitz theory of gravity, which shows a consistent and compatible fact of gravitational baryogenesis with recent observational data. Advances in cosmology and astronomical observations have brought to light significant tensions and uncertainties within the current model of cosmology, which assumes a spatially flat Universe and is known as the ΛCDM model. Moreover, the Planck Legacy 2018 release has preferred that the early Universe had a positive curvature with a confidence level more than 99%. This study reports a quantum mechanism that could potentially replace the concept of dark matter/energy by taking into the account the primordial curvature while generating the present-day spatial flatness. The approach incorporates the primordial curvature as the background curvature to extend the field equations into brane-world gravity. It utilizes a new wavefunction of the Universe that propagates in the bulk with respect to the scale factor and curvature radius of the early Universe upon the emission of the cosmic microwave background. The resulting wavefunction yields both positive and negative solutions, revealing the presence of a pair of entangled wavefunctions as a manifestation of the creation of matter and antimatter sides of the Universe. The wavefunction shows a nascent hyperbolic expansion away from early energy in opposite directions followed by a first decelerating expansion phase during the first ~10 Gyr and a subsequent accelerating expansion phase in reverse directions. During the second phase, both Universe sides are free-falling towards each other under gravitational acceleration. The simulation of the predicted background curvature evolution shows that the early curved background caused galaxies to experience external fields, resulting in the fast orbital speed of outer stars. Finally, the wavefunction predicts that the Universe will eventually undergo a rapid contraction phase resulting in a Big Crunch, which reveals a cyclic Universe. Full article

In order to determine the optimal irrigation and drainage mode for the anti-lodging cultivation of Super Rice Japonica 9108, barrel loading tests of different irrigation and drainage modes were carried out in the Water-Saving Park of Hohai University in Nanjing from June to October in 2019 and 2020. Three treatments were set up: Frequent and Shallow Irrigation (FSI), Rain-catching and Controlled Irrigation (RC-CI) and Drought Planting with Straw mulching (DPS). In each mode, the growth index, stem morphology index, material production index and stem mechanical index of rice at yellow maturity period were measured, and their relationship with the lodging index was analyzed. The results showed that compared with FSI, the lodging index of RC-CI was reduced by an average of 24.0%. RC-CI can promote the lateral development of the base internodes, increase the accumulation of stem sheath dry matter and the internode fullness and enhance mechanical strength and anti-lodging ability of the stem. Meanwhile, RC-CI can appropriately reduce the plant height, so as to reduce the bending moment of the base internodes. As a consequence, the lodging risk was effectively reduced. The lodging index of DPS was reduced by an average of 16.0% compared with FSI. Because DPS was subject to severe water deficit, its internodes thickness and stem wall thickness were inferior to that of FSI, leading to the weakening of the mechanical strength of stem, and the morphological characteristics and mechanical characteristics of the stem were not improved. Despite this, DPS still had a strong resistance to lodging. The output rate and conversion rate of the stem sheath were reduced, and while the plant height and center of gravity height were significantly reduced, the bending moment remained low. Thus, DPS can still reduce the lodging risk of rice. Compared with FSI, the average yield of RC-CI increased by 5.8% in two years, and the average yield of DPS was reduced by 4.4% in two years. DPS under severe water deficit reduced the accumulation of dry matter in the panicle and the yield index of rice, which was not conducive to a high yield. Considering the yield and lodging resistance of the super rice “Japonica 9108”, RC-CI is the best irrigation and drainage mode, followed by DPS. This study can provide data support and theoretical support for regulating the lodging resistance of super rice through irrigation measures. Full article

I take non-locality to be the Michelson–Morley experiment of the early 21st century, assume its universal validity, and try to derive its consequences. Spacetime, with its locality, cannot be fundamental, but must somehow be emergent from entangled coherent quantum variables and their behaviors. There are, then, two immediate consequences: (i). if we start with non-locality, we need not explain non-locality. We must instead explain an emergence of locality and spacetime. (ii). There can be no emergence of spacetime without matter. These propositions flatly contradict General Relativity, which is foundationally local, can be formulated without matter, and in which there is no “emergence” of spacetime. If these be true, then quantum gravity cannot be a minor alteration of General Relativity but must demand its deep reformulation. This will almost inevitably lead to: matter not only curves spacetime, but “creates” spacetime. We will see independent grounds for the assertion that matter both curves and creates spacetime that may invite a new union of quantum gravity and General Relativity. This quantum creation of spacetime consists of: (i) fully non-local entangled coherent quantum variables. (ii) The onset of locality via decoherence. (iii) A metric in Hilbert space among entangled quantum variables by the sub-additive von Neumann entropy between pairs of variables. (iv) Mapping from metric distances in Hilbert space to metric distances in classical spacetime by episodic actualization events. (v) Discrete spacetime is the relations among these discrete actualization events. (vi) “Now” is the shared moment of actualization of one among the entangled variables when the amplitudes of the remaining entangled variables change instantaneously. (vii) The discrete, successive, episodic, irreversible actualization events constitute a quantum arrow of time. (viii) The arrow of time history of these events is recorded in the very structure of the spacetime constructed. (ix) Actual Time is a succession of two or more actual events. The theory inevitably yields a UV cutoff of a new type. The cutoff is a phase transition between continuous spacetime before the transition and discontinuous spacetime beyond the phase transition. This quantum creation of spacetime modifies General Relativity and may account for Dark Energy, Dark Matter, and the possible elimination of the singularities of General Relativity. Relations to Causal Set Theory, faithful Lorentzian manifolds, and past and future light cones joined at “Actual Now” are discussed. Possible observational and experimental tests based on: (i). the existence of Sub- Planckian photons, (ii). knee and ankle discontinuities in the high-energy gamma ray spectrum, and (iii). possible experiments to detect a creation of spacetime in the Casimir system are discussed. A quantum actualization enhancement of repulsive Casimir effect would be anti-gravitational and of possible practical use. The ideas and concepts discussed here are not yet a theory, but at most the start of a framework that may be useful. Full article

We explore the Hawking evaporation of two-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS2), dilatonic black hole coupled with conformal matter, and derive the Page curve for the entanglement entropy of radiation. We first work in a semiclassical approximation with backreaction. We show that the end-point of the evaporation process is AdS2 with a vanishing dilaton, i.e., a regular, singularity-free, zero-entropy state. We explicitly compute the entanglement entropies of the black hole and the radiation as functions of the horizon radius, using the conformal field theory (CFT) dual to AdS2 gravity. We use a simplified toy model, in which evaporation is described by the forming and growing of a negative mass configuration in the positive-mass black hole interior. This is similar to the “islands” proposal, recently put forward to explain the Page curve for evaporating black holes. The resulting Page curve for AdS2 black holes is in agreement with unitary evolution. The entanglement entropy of the radiation initially grows, closely following a thermal behavior, reaches a maximum at half-way of the evaporation process, and then goes down to zero, following the Bekenstein–Hawking entropy of the black hole. Consistency of our simplified model requires a non-trivial identification of the central charge of the CFT describing AdS2 gravity with the number of species of fields describing Hawking radiation. Relativistic deformed kinematics are usually considered a way to capture the residual effects of a fundamental quantum gravity theory. These kinematics present a non-commutative addition law for the momenta so that the total momentum of a multi-particle system depends on the specific ordering in which the momenta are composed. We explore in the present work how this property may be used to generate an asymmetry between particles and antiparticles through a particular ordering prescription, resulting in a violation of CPT symmetry. We study its consequences for muon decay, obtaining a difference in the lifetimes of the particle and the antiparticle as a function of the new high-energy scale, parameterizing such relativistic deformed kinematics. We propose a method by which one could use modified antimatter gravity experiments in order to perform a high-precision test of antimatter charge neutrality. The proposal is based on the application of a strong, external, vertically oriented electric field during an antimatter free-fall gravity experiment in the gravitational field of the Earth. The proposed experimental setup has the potential to drastically improve the limits on the charge-asymmetry parameter ϵ¯q of antimatter. On the theoretical side, we analyze possibilities to describe a putative charge-asymmetry of matter and antimatter, proportional to the parameters ϵq and ϵ¯q, by Lagrangian methods. We found that such an asymmetry could be described by four-dimensional Lorentz-invariant operators that break CPT without destroying the locality of the field theory. The mechanism involves an interaction Lagrangian with field operators decomposed into particle or antiparticle field contributions. Our Lagrangian is otherwise Lorentz, as well as PT invariant. Constraints to be derived on the parameter ϵ¯q do not depend on the assumed theoretical model. Full article

This paper deals with the dynamics of cylindrical collapse with anisotropic matter configuration in the context of energy-momentum squared gravity. This covariant generalization of general relativity allows the presence of T_abT^ab in the action of functional theory. Consequently, the relevant field equations are different from general relativity only in the presence of matter sources. In this theory, there is a maximum energy density and a minimum scale factor of the early universe. This means that there is a bounce at early times which avoids the presence of an early-time singularity. Moreover, this theory possesses a true sequence of cosmological eras. However, the cosmological constant does not play an important role in the early times and becomes important only after the matter-dominated era. In this theory, the “repulsive” nature of the cosmological constant plays a crucial role at early times in resolving the singularity. We formulate the corresponding field equations as well as junction conditions. We construct dynamical equations through the Misner–Sharp technique and examine the impact of energy-momentum squared gravity on the collapse rate. We develop a relation among fluid parameters, correction terms and Weyl scalar and examine the effects of anisotropy, effective matter variables and correction terms on the collapsing phenomenon. Due to the presence of anisotropic pressure, spacetime is no longer considered to be conformally flat. To obtain conformally flat spacetime, we neglect the impact of anisotropy and assume the isotropic matter distribution which yields homogeneity of the energy density and conformally flat spacetime. The hydrodynamical force determines the stability of the system and prevents the collapsing as well as expanding process for the constant energy-momentum squared gravity model. We conclude that positive correction terms and anisotropy provide the anti-gravitational behavior leading to the stability of self-gravitating objects and hence prevent the collapsing process.
